What You’ll Be Doing
The Energy, Infrastructure, & Transition (“EIT”) team provides investment banking services to existing and prospective clients in the power, utilities, renewables, infrastructure, midstream, upstream energy, and energy transition sectors. The team has a global coverage strategy across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia. Our client-centric approach incorporates M&A and other financial advisory services with full access to the debt, equity and loan capital markets. The team also delivers complex risk and hedging solutions to clients. The EIT team manages a market leading platform from our offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, London, and Bogota. Our New York office is the largest in EIT’s global footprint.
EIT’s coverage universe across the power, utilities, infrastructure, and energy sectors provides the opportunity to play an integral role advising on significant and marquee transactions that support the AI build-out and broader re-industrialization of North America. The team’s coverage mandate includes conventional and renewable power, regulated utilities and utility infrastructure, infrastructure, midstream, upstream energy, and energy transition. The EIT team supports our clients through a variety of transactions including M&A, strategic advisory, capital structure advisory, equity and debt capital financings, and tax equity transactions.
The EIT team is a leading advisor in the power, utilities, and renewables sectors maintaining a top 5 position in the North American M&A league tables.
With guidance from Managing Directors, Executive Directors or Directors, the Analyst will complete assignments that help our clients achieve their goals and impact the CIBC's bottom line through transaction and financing execution, client relationship support, industry and company research, and contributing to the overall communication flow across our global offices. The role provides the Analyst with steep learning and an ability to observe and influence the strategic direction of our clients’ businesses with exposure to company executives and board of directors.
How You’ll Succeed
Analysts on the EIT team will be expected to provide a broad range of analytical, research, and presentation preparation support to all the professionals within their group. Typically, Analysts are assigned to a variety of transactions and advisory projects, such as mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, and capital structure and strategic advisory projects, and must have strong prioritization and multi-tasking capabilities. You will also be expected to maintain an awareness of our clients, industry, regulatory issues, and relevant economic/political trends.
Applying your strengths in quantitative analysis to create and direct complex financial analysis and models while extracting the “big picture” implications of such analysis will be critical to your success. The role of an Analyst is challenging and fast-paced. It requires dedication, passion for the industry and a very solid work ethic.
As part of the EIT deal team, you will gain exposure to working with individuals from various groups across the firm, globally. A team approach to executing coverage, M&A advisory and financing assignments is designed to provide progressive, on-the-job, training.
