Essential Duties (Required duties employees must accomplish and performance is measured)

-This role will sit 100% remote with limited travel // can sit anywhere within the continental US

-Under the supervision of Independence team management performing the initial “triage” of incoming independence consultations from engagement personnel and other RSM member firms, including the assessment of the applicable independence rule set(s) and level of the matter’s complexity (45%)

-Serves as a resource to senior associates to provide on-the-job training and support related to independence consultation and related independence projects (20%)

-Personal development and independence skill acquisition (20%)

-Lead and assist the independence team with the development and presentation of independence related training, tools and guidance (10%)

-Other Office of Risk Management related projects, as needed (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

 (MUST NOTE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
  • Eligible to obtain CPA license (preferred)

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

(MUST NOTE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED)

  • Apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures – required
  • Awareness of SEC, PCAOB and AICPA Independence rules and ability to recognize the potential impact of changes to firm policies, processes and personnel (preferred)
  • Research, document, analyze, and interpret information based on client and team expectations; adapt approach when necessary; use problem solving and analytical skills to develop and share recommendations and solutions (required)
  • Manage and prioritize workload of self/team to meet and/ or exceed expectations
  • Communicate information clearly and concisely, in writing to diverse audiences across the firm and to outside professional contacts (required)
  • Beginning to demonstrate conflict resolution skills (required)
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products including familiarity with SharePoint as a document repository (required)
  • Identifying and recommending process improvement and efficiency (required)
  • Beginning to develop and maintain applicable professional and internal contacts, resources and networks (preferred)
  • Demonstrating the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion (required)

EXPERIENCE

(MUST NOTE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED)

  • 5-6+ years’ experience in public accounting (required), preferably with substantive exposure to independence considerations in professional practice

  • Demonstration of an understanding of the impact of regulatory controls on business conditions (required)
  • Acts to make things better by making deliberate attempts to add value. Seeks information from supervisor for guidance on consultative approach (required)

  • Able to adapt quickly to changes in regulatory environment, industry and the firm (required)

EXPERIENCE

  • 3-4+ years’ experience in public accounting (required), preferably with exposure to independence considerations in professional practice.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $86,500 - $163,900

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
