The Country Controller III accomplishes results through the management of professional team(s) and department(s). Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Contributes to standards around which others will operate. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of an area. May have responsibility for planning, budgeting and policy formulation within area of expertise. Involved in short-term planning resource planning. Full management responsibility of a team, which may include management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations and may include budget approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the integrity and control of company’s financial books and records as well as the process by which these records are generated.
  • Participates in efforts to embed consistent controls and unify various controller functions performed across businesses including; assessing & standardizing financial reporting; setting controls around corporate/regulatory reporting; recommend balance sheet integrity.
  • Responsible for strengthening the independent controls and the control environment throughout the company to support the business in efforts to grow responsibly.
  • Develops and manages the financial control function and is responsible for the external statutory audit, if applicable
  • May partner strategically with the CFO.
  • Responsible for both internal and external Local financial and regulatory reporting
  • Integrates subject matter and industry expertise to accomplish business objectives.
  • Participates in short-term planning resource planning.
  • Applies an in-depth understanding of how the finance sub-functions collectively integrate.
  • Applies broad financial theory and in-depth understanding of country standards that impact new developments.
  • Uses communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.
  • Manages volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of an area. May have responsibility for planning, budgeting and policy formulation within area of expertise.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned, additionally support the Puerto Rico Branch activity.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
  • Prepare Citibank NA Puerto Rico (Branch and IBE) regulatory reports filed with the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions (OCFI) or other regulatory agency, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Reports include, Call Reports, Annual survey for tax exemption, Financial Statements, among other local regulatory reports as may surface in time.
  • Act as interface for regulatory examinations from the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions as well as internal audits.


Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years relevant experience in Accounting, Financial Services Industry
  • Experience in banking is preferred, not limited, especially knowledge to IBE’s in Puerto Rico
  • Ability to work with multiple functions.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge
  • Understanding of Financial Regulatory laws for Puerto Rico and federal laws
  • Desirable knowledge of Puerto Rico fiscal Laws and US Tax Laws

    Education:

    • Bachelor degree in Finance, Business administration, Accounting or related areas to these
    • Advanced verbal and written English (Fully bilingual)
