General Area of Responsibility

The M&R Superintendent will be responsible for the planning, execution and report of the corrective and preventive maintenance jobs with effective and efficient use of the resources of the repair group that includes personnel, tools, facility and financial resources.

Specific Area of Responsibility

Your main tasks will be:

  • Coordinate with the Port Engineers the corrective and preventive maintenance prioritizing on the critical equipment of the tugs.
  • In a monthly basis, plan and program the preventive jobs of engines, hydraulic equipment and welding jobs on board, the planning must include resources as personnel, spare parts and tools.
  • Assign the work to the M&R group supervisors according to the area of action and the needs of the department.
  • Technical approve the requisitions of the supervisors of the M&R Group in the SERTICA system.
  • Ensure that the Supervisors of the M&R Group have the necessary resources to perform their work with safety, quality, timely and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain an adequate order of the area occupied by the Maintenance and Repairs Group in Santo Domingo Port.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment used by the Maintenance and Repairs Group.
  • Elaborate weekly reports to the Technical Management with all the work carried out during the week.
  • Hold a daily meeting at the beginning of work with the supervisors to coordinate work considering that all the personnel must have a task for the day.
  • Ensure that all the personnel of the repair group comply with the scheduled working hours.
  • Approve the extra time of the personnel if it is mandatory to finish a job in a critical equipment.
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as needed.

Requirements/Preferred Education 

  • University degree in Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, or related area, preferred master on relevant degree.

Training and competencies

  • More than 5 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Technical level in industrial mechanics, hydraulic / diesel mechanics, or similar courses, preferable.
  • Knowledge of vessel machinery, engines and systems.
  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish. Advance written and spoken English, preferable.
  • Proficient in MS Office application.
  • Safety environment awareness.
