Who will you be working with?

We are seeking an experienced Production/Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team at the LH Group (a Division of Wabtec UK Ltd) based in Burton on Trent we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

Role: Production-Continuous Improvement Engineer

Salary: £Competitive

Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)

Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30pm and Friday 08:00am to 13:00pm, 37 hours per week 

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

The key aim of the role is to optimise the assembly and manufacturing process by studying product and manufacturing methods, designing, and delivering robust process flows and work instructions. Support manufacturing programs and continuous improvement disciplines in providing cost effective manufacturing processes for new and existing programs.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Facilitate, lead, and deliver improvements that will generate Lean savings for the business.
  • Support Production by analysing production problems and recommending corrective solutions.
  • Participate in the design of workplace and cell layouts to promote efficient overhaul and manufacturing processes.
  • Deliver user friendly work instructions consisting of Major Steps, Key Points, and Key Point Reasons with the use of clear language and pictorial representation.
  • Reduce waste, remove bottlenecks, and streamline the processes.
  • Promote Lean thinking through the use of Lean tools, methodologies, and techniques.

What do we want to know about you?

  • HNC engineering qualification required or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of Lean principles/tools and Six Sigma.
  • CAD Qualification desirable.
