Summary:
Provides genetic counseling to patients with a diagnoses or family history of adult onset cancer and coordinates program services.Responsibilities:
Provides counseling and education to patients and their families. Identifies and provides referrals for testing, treatment, support, and advocacy.Researches, maintains, and applies knowledge of trends and developments in genetic disease research, testing, and treatment.Collects, reviews and interprets family/medical histories, medical records, test results, and other relevant/necessary information. Coordinates testing and communicates results to referring healthcare provider.Develops genetic counseling plans, including risk assessment, referrals, education, life planning options, and treatment options.Competencies:

Masters: Genetic Counseling (Required)Additional Job Information:
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of experience in pediatric or general genetic counseling, rotations and/or internships will be considered. Other Information: Requires a Certified Genetics Counselor (CGC) certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) within 12 months of employment.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
