As Leave Specialist you’ll contribute to our success in the following ways:

  • Ensures that all activities performed align with the vision of Elara Caring’s board of directors, executive team, and the leadership of the Leave team, as well as the rest of the Compensation & Benefits team members.
  • Ensures compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Interacts with disability vendors as needed.
  • Initiates the FMLA leave administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Communicates respectfully with employees regarding their needs for leave, modified work schedules, or facilitating the return to work. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
  • Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, sick leave, workers’ compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
  • Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, disability, or other leave(s).
  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned.  

What is Required?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Business Administration or relevant field is preferred, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience with leave requirements and other legal protections offered by FMLA, ADA, and other applicable state and federal laws.
  • 3+ Years HRMS experience required
  • Experience with Workday and HR Service Now is preferred.

You will report to Benefits Services Team Lead.
