We are seeking a talented Newsroom Operations Coordinator to support the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s Editor in Chief and editorial team which runs the Foundation’s digital news platform, Context.
As a crucial part of the team, you will participate in the day-to-day operation of the newsroom by performing and managing a wide variety of administrative and business tasks.
About the Role
Act as first point of contact for editorial team, coordinate responses to internal and external inquiries and facilitate inter-team and cross-Foundation collaboration
Manage Editor in Chief’s schedule
Support Editor in Chief and editorial team leaders on research, planning and execution of projects and activities
Support Editor in Chief in monitoring budget and finances
Lead on all tasks related to onboarding and induction of new hires
Provide administrative support for editorial meetings including scheduling and notetaking
Support editorial team on tasks related to project and financial administration including invoicing and processing of payments to freelancers and vendors
Provide logistical support for remote and in-person activities as needed
Provide support for organising and managing editorial events
Providing logistical support for cross-Foundation collaboration on internal events and initiatives
Perform data and knowledge capture, ensure proper documentation, filing and dissemination of records of editorial and associated activities
Coordinate administration of relevant staffing-related platforms such as FieldGlass, Cora and Salesforce
Maintain shared resources and guides for standard operations procedures (e.g. onboarding process for contractors; onboarding of vendors; onboarding of new hires)
Maintain awards database and coordinate awards submissions
About You
General administrative experience, preferably in a diverse, multinational team
Strong financial management and business support skills
Strong written/verbal communication skills.
Organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
A good understanding of journalism and how newsrooms work is desirable
