The Mechanical Design Engineer collaborates with a local team or global engineering team on product design which satisfy customer specifications. This process includes design, product validation, completing documentation and executing launch items for production. Complete all related drawings, documentation and release in internal systems.

General Responsibilities
• Key participant in design projects
• Performs design verification on original and/or derivative design  ideas using analytical and experimental methods
• Key participant in development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch
• Collaboates with necessary personnel on failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations
• Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications)
• Interacts with customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
• Knowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals and product test processes

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience

The Mechanization Assembly Specialist is responsible to oversee the equipment build process while also taking part in the assembly. The position supports internal company needs for new and existing equipment ranging from, assembly, inspection, calibration, testing and installation for global manufacturing sites. A successful candidate has a demonstrated history of building equipment for high-volume production lines from concept to installation and leading other technicians or engineers to do the same.

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure the equipment is built according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Mentor less experienced team members.
  • Identify challenges facing direct reports and take steps to mitigate risks to the project.
  • Works closely with the Equipment Design Engineers, Supervisors and Project managers on reaching set goals and projects milestones.
  • Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinates the daily tasks of contracted resources, and the work of the outside companies involved in some stages of the equipment build.
  • Clarifies and aligns with the responsible engineers the assembly details not specified in the equipment documentation.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team supporting various equipment-related needs for new equipment and upgrades/maintenance on existing equipment.
  • Use engineering principles and creative, innovative problem-solving to make sound decisions on complex technical issues. Provide technical and professional guidance to help others do the same.
  • Quickly learn new processes, programs, and skills to solve cutting-edge engineering problems.
  • Takes part in resources planning and assembly work allocation to project.
  • Work with functional managers and project managers to execute the equipment assembly and debug in accordance with Sensata standards.
  • Respond to emails, and other administrative requests in a timely manner.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar College Technical Education providing the expected expertise.  3-5 years’ experience in building of automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of CAD systems, preferred Solidworks for mechanical design and Solidworks Electrical.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, including material selection, mechanics, magnetics, fluid, and thermal dynamics, actuators, and drafting.
  • Knowledge of various manipulators, pneumatics, component feeders, thermal control systems, and various manufacturing processes such as resistance welding, laser welding, crimping, dispensing, and pressing.
  • Familiarity with electrical panel, PLC programming, and machine control software are a plus to effectively work with those groups.
  • Demonstrated history of setting ambitious yet achievable goals and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing tasks when problems aren’t fully defined.
