The Business Institutional and Market Operations Chief Controls Office (BIMO CCO) is a first line of defence function that provides comprehensive and integrated risk services in support of the Business & Institutional Market Operations (BIMO). The value proposition of BIMO CCO is to provide skilled, practical and efficient risk management to support the COO in the delivery of excellent business and customer outcomes.
The BIMO CCO function delivers effective business and customer outcomes through the following risk services:
- Implementation and adherence to the Operational and Compliance Risk Management Frameworks;
- Specialist advice, consultation and services to support the business in identifying, monitoring and managing its respective risks and controls;
- Build and embed strong risk capability and culture across the Chief Operating Office;
- Risk governance and reporting;
- Risk in Change assessment in support of project and transformation activities across the COO; and
- Supplier risk assessment and governance.
Do work that matters:
This role will report to the Executive Manager, Market Operations Risk and Control Enablement. The role supports the Market Operations business in London and New York.
This role will build and manage productive relationships with the following individuals and groups, who are located in multiple regions and time zones:
- Market Operations;
- Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) including London Branch and New York Branch;
- Line 2 Operational Risk, Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance in Market Operations and IB&M across Sydney, London and New York;
- Chief Operations Office; and
- Chief Controls Office Centres of Excellence.
Your role is dedicated to the support of non-financial risk management in the Chief Operating Office Market Operations business in London and New York and key responsibilities include:
- Partner, coach and drive behaviours to enable the business to be self-reliant in managing risk and compliance obligations, facilitating the delivery of better customer outcomes;
- Proactively detect and anticipate responses to changes in the internal and external risk landscape that may impact the Market Operations business profile;
- Advise on opportunities to enhance the design and resiliency of business processes and compliance;
- Design and implement / support the business to design and implement controls to enable better risk and compliance outcomes, including design of controls for all new and changing processes and operations, and support the business through the implementation;
- Provide insightful business intelligence to accountable owners, governing forums and committees, to create transparency of risk outcomes;
- Leverage business expertise and insights to make recommendations to the business for prioritisation of investments, interventions and enhancements to mitigate risk;
- Advise and enable senior stakeholders to manage their risk, compliance obligations and business operations within risk appetite;
- Partner with the business to prepare responses to issues, incidents, near misses, and emerging risks or threats to resilience;
- Advocate for and advise the business on using appropriate tools, practices and frameworks to enable execution of risk reduction and proactive risk management;
- Assist in the development of operational risk training programmes to increase risk awareness and culture across the MO business;
- Manage root cause analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements;
- Partner with the business to support the execution of the business strategy, including advising on strengths, vulnerabilities and enhancements;
- Work in an agile manner and across disciplines to facilitate rapid response to issues, near misses, and emerging risks or threats to resilience;
- Develop a proactive risk and control culture;
- Ensure data quality in various systems, databases and monthly management reporting; and
- Presenting to, and preparing reporting for, multiple risk governance forums.

- Institutional Banking or Operations experience would be advantageous.
