Overview

The Paralegal will assist and support the legal counsel and other staff members in the Legal Department

This position sits in our Pearland, Texas office - Mon - Fri this is an in-office opportunity only.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare initial drafts of legal documents (i.e. pleadings, discovery, pre-litigation demand letters, litigation hold letters, entity formation documents) at the direction of attorneys 

  • File documents, pleadings, and electronic data into databases 

  • Manage corporate governance documentation 

  • Perform administrative duties as required  

  • Utilize software to obtain signatures on electronic documents 

  • Research legal matters 

  • Assist attorneys in the coordination of lawsuits in multiple jurisdictions 

  • Assist attorneys in all areas of written discovery 

  • Gather and obtain evidence, as necessary, in support of lawsuits, trademark filings, and regulatory matters 

  • File legal pleadings and other documents with the courts or other governmental agencies 

  • Organize and prepare for meetings 

  • Coordinate with outside law firms to facilitate e-billing  

  • Assist with contract administration activities, as needed  

  • Maintain confidentiality 

  • Manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines 

  • It is an essential function of this job for the employee to work in office/in the employee’s assigned work site. No remote work is available

The position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Must live, or be willing to relocate within a 30-mile radius of the Pearland office  

  • A college degree is preferred

  • A Paralegal Certificate is preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant paralegal experience is preferred

  • Must have previous experience working in a corporate department or law firm

  • Proficient skill level with Microsoft applications is required

  • Must have experience with eFile

  • Experience in TeamConnect or similar legal management/e-billing software is strongly preferred

  • Experience with EEOC matters is preferred

  • Must have attention to detail, display critical thinking, reading comprehension and writing skills, takes initiative and is a team player
