In this exciting role within the Financial Crime (FC) Assurance team, you’ll play an integral part in the oversight, implementation, and delivery of the FC Assurance agenda.
You’ll take a lead role in evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of FC controls and identifying potential risks or gaps. You’ll collaborate with colleagues in the wider function and relevant business areas to assess whether FC Risks are adequately identified, assessed and managed.

The difference you’ll make:
Leading Financial Crime Assurance reviews by evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of financial crime controls to identify potential risks or gaps
Supporting the development and ongoing maintenance of the risk-based FC Assurance Plan and the FC Assurance methodology
Planning, executing and reporting on monitoring reviews related to areas including Anti-Money laundering (AML), Facilitation of Tax Evasion (FoTE), Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), Sanctions, and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF)
Ensuring opinions are underpinned by facts, evidence and assessment of materiality aligned with Santander UK’s Risk Appetite, policies and standards
Producing high-quality reports which communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
Overseeing the execution of management actions to address assurance findings and validating their effectiveness
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
Proven Line 2 Financial Crime assurance, monitoring or internal audit experience within a banking environment
In-depth understanding of UK financial crime regulations, including Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act, FCA Handbook, and JMLSG guidance
Experience of leading, managing and overseeing assurance activities and the ability to produce high-quality reports
Proficiency in audit or monitoring methodology, including risk-based auditing, control testing, and issue identification
It would also be nice for you to have:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver findings and influence stakeholders
Advanced project and time management skills with the ability to work independently or head others
An industry recognised Financial Crime, Compliance or Internal Audit qualification or equivalent
What else you need to know:
This role can be based in Milton Keynes or Glasgow.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
