Job Summary

The Principal Administrator, Network Systems & Telecom, is a senior technical role responsible for managing complex infrastructure environments, including servers, virtualization, storage, networking, and telephony systems. This position ensures system integrity, security, and performance while driving automation and process improvements. The role requires versatility and deep technical expertise across multiple platforms, with the ability to troubleshoot outages, recommend enhancements, and collaborate across teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of hardware, servers, storage, and key processes; review logs and confirm backup completion.
  • Conduct regular security monitoring to identify and mitigate potential intrusions.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade servers, virtualization platforms, and network components in alignment with standards and operational requirements.
  • Manage and optimize infrastructure applications, monitoring tools, and asset management systems.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, firmware upgrades, and resource optimization for servers and data center equipment.
  • Support telephony systems (SIP) and proxy services (NGINX) for voice and network functionality.
  • Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, New Relic) to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams on server build standards and automation strategies.
  • Drive automation initiatives using tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, and GitHub to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews; develop long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, processes, and change management activities in ServiceNow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5–7 years of experience OR High School Diploma/GED plus 9–11 years of experience in infrastructure administration.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Operating Systems: Linux (Rocky) and Windows Server
    • Virtualization: VMware
    • Networking: Cisco UCS
    • Firewalls: Palo Alto
    • Cloud Platforms: Azure
    • Monitoring Tools: Nagios, New Relic
    • Proxies: NGINX
    • Telephony: SIP-based systems
  • Strong understanding of data center management, storage platforms (NetApp, Dell PowerFlex), and integration across multiple systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for outages and complex infrastructure issues.
  • Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, DSC, Ansible) and scripting for infrastructure tasks.
  • Familiarity with IT operations platforms such as ServiceNow for incident and change management.

Preferred Certifications

  • Cisco Certified Technician (CCT)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • VMware or Palo Alto certifications a plus

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.
  • Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Team members may be asked to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. This position requires the ability to move equipment or packages up to 10 pounds. Team members may occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to service the lights and/or ceiling fans. Team members may also be asked to install or service equipment, including under desks, resulting in kneeling, stooping, or crouching.

    Pay Rate

    $133,500 - $158,500 Salary

    Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
