The Operational Technology (OT) Services team is part of Fugro’s global IT Infrastructure and Security team. At OT Services we provide IT support to facilitate Fugro’s vessels and field operations, remote operations, and processing of Geo-data collected during those operations. The OT Services Support team is globally distributed with members in each of the four Fugro regions and provides 1st and 2nd line IT support through our 24/7 OT Services Support Desk. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic IT Support Engineer Remote Operations and Connectivity to expand our Support team in the US.

As IT Support Engineer Remote Operations and Connectivity, you are our local representative and IT support focal point for the Houston Remote Operations Centre (ROC). In this role, you deliver the necessary IT functional expertise and leadership for the support of the portfolio of remote operations systems and applications utilised by the ROC, as well as for the end-to-end connectivity between ROC and Fugro’s fleet of (uncrewed) vessels or other remote sites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk. 

  • Provides IT technical expertise, direction, and assistance to personnel involved in executing and supporting all remote operations.

  • Subject matter expertise on IT network and connectivity solutions.

  • IT subject matter expertise on Fugro’s remote operations systems, tools and applications.

  • Coordinates implementation of new connectivity solutions and remote operations systems and applications as per new or updated IT standard architectures/designs.

  • Implementation of new processes and assessment of emergent technology.

  • Improves (use of) connectivity and infrastructure monitoring solutions.

  • Assists with maintenance and continuous improvement of documentation and procedures related to the IT support of remote operations systems and connectivity infrastructure and technology.

  • Creates/maintains high-level IT systems and connectivity schematics for remote operations systems and applications in use by the ROC.

  • Coaches and trains personnel in Remote Operations Centres and on vessels on (new) IT technology and its uses.

  • Acts as escalation focal point for remote operations-related IT support.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

  • Bachelor in Information Technology, engineering or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of working in networking infrastructure.

  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of backbone network technology utilized by VSAT service providers and its application toward their customers.

  • Cisco Certification, i.e. CCNA, CCNP is a plus.

  • Experience of various platforms in use by VSAT services, including, but not limited to iDirect, Newtec, Comtech, etc.

  • Pro-active, dynamic, dedicated, and responsible self-starter with strong customer orientation and multi-tasking capabilities.

  • Possess the ability to appropriately prioritize and plan complex work in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills - demonstrating outside-the-box problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% if required.
