Essential Responsibilities
- Review, understand, and follow all safe work practices and procedures
- Recognizes existing and potential hazards and knows how to identify these through conducting a Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA)
- Performs daily inspections and walkarounds, completing logbooks, and ensures good housekeeping of all equipment
- Effectively and safely operates D8, D9, and/or D10 sized dozers
- Operate the dozer as specified in the scope of work including spotting trucks, sloping, levelling, ripping, pushing piles, rough to final grading, clean up support for soil, rock or other debris
- Operates in crowded, fast-paced working environments, and exercises extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety
- Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication (including hand signals) from operators, ground personnel and acts accordingly
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating dozers on a heavy civil and/or mining environment
- Self-motivated, flexible and proactive with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit with the ability to lift 50lbs and climb in and out of equipment on a regular basis
- Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing
- Must have a valid Driver's License and a clear driver's abstract
- Experience with GPS Machine Control is considered as asset.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or industry courses in heavy equipment operating is considered an asset.
Work Conditions
- Shift based position with 20 days on, and 10 days off rotation working 12 hours per day
- Must be able to work both dayshift and nightshift
- Rotation travel allowance provided (proof of residency required)
- Driving to and from the project location is an option as there is parking available
