The Manager of Accounting is a key leadership role supporting the Marine High Speed business within the Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division. This position supports the Marine business through monthly financial reporting, planning/forecasting, pricing analysis, Enterprise results and overall business support. This position also provides leadership to one direct report that is focused primarily on sales and pricing analysis and monthly reporting and forecasting.
What You Will Do:
- Lead 1 direct report (staff accountant) focused on providing insights on Marine's financial results to assist senior management with business decisions.
- Lead efforts to implement period cost governance to support execution of annual business plan and tracking of key R&D projects.
- Work closely with commercial team to drive pricing governance and evaluate sales variance approval thresholds annually and support major deals.
- Lead reporting and analysis of product-level enterprise results.
- Collaboration across accounting, commercial and engineering teams to enable business insights and financial support to Marine business.
- Upon request, take part in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Champion the use of new technologies and tools for analyzing financial data and driving efficiency improvements to monthly / forecasting processes.
What You Have:
- Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and 6+ years of job related experience
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
- Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Axiom and Power BI knowledge
- CMA or CPA
- Masters of Accounting or MBA
- Prior management experience

- The primary location for this position is Houston, TX
