Job Description

The job in a nutshell

We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Core Fixed Income team in the Netherlands. The team consists of portfolio managers responsible for a range of funds investing in corporate bonds, government bonds and interest rate derivatives. You will have the opportunity to participate in internal meetings where macroeconomic trends, portfolio positioning, and trade ideas are discussed, providing a steep learning curve and valuable industry insights.

You will support the team with various tasks, including:

• Improving tools and models used by portfolio managers for assessing macroeconomic environment and credit fundamentals
• Supporting trade execution process in order management system
• Assisting in client activities by enhancing commercial information
• Collaborating with portfolio managers on market research

This role requires proficiency in Excel and at least one of the coding languages, preferably Python.

This would be your future internship because you:

• Are in your final year of bachelor’s or master’s degree with specialization in Financial Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance or similar
• Are available per February 2025 for a minimum of 3 months, part-time or full-time (can be discussed)
• Are passioned about financial markets and eager to learn practicalities of fixed income investing

• Have affinity with quantitative analysis and ideally experience with financial modelling

Who will be your new colleagues?

You will work with portfolio managers in Fixed Income team, depending on the task, it can be related to credits or sovereign bonds portfolios. Your manager will be Gerard Moerman, head of Fixed Income, LDI and Investment Solutions. The majority of the team is based in the Hague, where the internship is taken place.

Important note
It is required to be enrolled at a university to take part in this internship. Next to that you will need a Dutch BSN-number and Dutch bank account. If you are a non-EU/EER student, you will need a valid residence permit stating that you may work ('arbeid vrij toegestaan'). Applications that do not fulfill these criteria cannot be taken into consideration.
