In this role you will lead Project Development activities for multi-scale technically complex projects supporting throughout the planning, design, risk assessment and project sanction of the project lifecycle. 

The primary focus will be Liquid Pipelines (LP) and Gas Transmission Midstream (GTM); however, additional workload may include projects in solar, wind, carbon capture and gas distribution.

What you will do:

  • As a project manager, develop recommendations for crucial business decisions on new capital projects. 
  • Lead a team of internal and external professionals, guiding them on engineering, system design, cost, risk management, and financial planning with minimal oversight.
  • Scoping of projects that involve adoption of new technologies, new specifications, new geographic areas, new lines of business all require significant learning on the fly, research and high-level scrutiny to ensure the decisions are the best for Enbridge.
  • Supporting an internal customer portfolio of multiple projects, constantly prioritizing and ensuring governance, standards, policies, metrics and reporting that meet the needs of all partners within Projects, across a variety of jurisdictions.
  • Act as a key point of contact and liaison into the Projects organization.
  • Accountable for crafting alternate project options to help decision makers select efficient project solutions to commercial opportunities and challenges.
  • Develop strategy and provide inputs into project performance reporting e.g., standardized reporting monthly Project Reports, Project Dashboards, Board of Director reporting support, project metric development, performance template development and maintenance.

Who you are:

  • Engineering degree in an applicable subject area.
  • Registered or qualified to register as a P.Eng. in the Province of Alberta for locations in Edmonton or Calgary. Not required in the US.
  • Six or more years of progressively responsible experience in engineering design and project management related to the transportation of gas and liquid hydrocarbons by pipeline.
  • Proficiency and communications skills related to leading and acting independently providing direction in a project environment.
  • Ability to self-prioritize and problem solve using appropriate industry standard methodologies.
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills including making presentations to senior leadership.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment.
  • Up to 30% travel to regional office or field sites.
  • Required at times to be on call monitoring phone calls or email on evenings and weekends.
  • Occasional overnight business trips to the field may be required, may require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and specific safety training depending on the construction site.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
