A Claims Adjuster is responsible for assessing, investigating, and processing insurance claims. The job purpose typically involves determining the validity of claims, evaluating the extent of damages, and negotiating settlements. This role acts as a customer advocate by setting expectations and guiding each client/customer through the claims process, in addition to communicating their value to us.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Claim Investigation:  Conducting thorough investigations into the circumstances of a claim to establish facts and determine coverage liability.

  • Damage Assessment: Evaluating the extent of damages or losses and determining the appropriate compensation based on policy coverage.

  • Settlement Authorization: Making decisions on settlement amounts approving/denying claims up to authority limit and obtaining necessary approvals for settlement disbursement.

  • Policy Interpretation: Interpreting insurance policies to determine coverage, exclusions, and limitations.

  • Negotiation: Engaging in negotiations with policyholders, claimants, and other relevant parties to reach a fair and equitable settlement.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed and accurate records of the claims process, including documentation of findings, communications and all steps taken and outcome in the system.

  • Adherence to Guidelines: Follows established guidelines, procedures, and compliance and quality standards to ensure consistent and fair claims handling.

  • Customer Interaction: Providing clear and timely communication to policyholders and claimants, addressing concerns, and guiding them through the claims process.

  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that claims handling complies with legal requirements, industry regulations, and company policies.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least one-year professional work experience in a customer focused environment.

  • Active P&C Adjusters license or ability to obtain one within 30-days of hire in all states where licensing is required.

  • Strong analytical, listening, problem solving, critical thinking and negotiating skills.

  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Resiliency when dealing with dynamic workloads and bringing grit and determination to get things done.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and spend time on what adds the most value.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Associate/bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Xactimate knowledge and proficiency.

  • Familiarity with insurance terminology, claims processing and regulatory requirements.

Pay Range:

$18.23 - $29.17

Pay Range:

$18.23 - $33.05

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
