Position: Staff Product Engineer (San Jose, California)
Duties: Develop detailed product development flow and characterization requirements for Communication and Cloud Business Unit (C&C) new product introduction. Create risk assessments to guide the development of comprehensive product die, process, and/or Package Qualification Plan for new product release. Oversee the qualification testing of new product and package technologies per Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC) standards such as High Temp Operating Life (HTOL), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Latch-Up, Highly Accelerated Stress Test (HAST), Biased High Accelerated Stress Test (BHAST), Preconditioning and Solder-Heat Resistance testing, High Temp Storage, and Temperature Cycle testing reliability tests. Provide the Reliability Stress test routine and review test program conditions for ESD and Latch-up Stress requirements for each device pin, based on the product datasheet and on corporate specifications. Identify root cause for customer returned units, perform risk assessment based on manufacturing data analysis and failure analysis findings, and implement targeted corrective action(s). Perform rigorous characterization data analysis using statistical methodologies for a characterization report. Monitor manufacturing (sort, assembly, test) yields versus expected yield, and implement yield improvement and cost reduction solutions in production. Generate a Product Change Notice (PCN) for any production test and/or product design changes. Manage, train, mentor, and assess performance of junior team to achieve the strategic business goals for the introduction, development, and support of new products, released to manufacturing.
Requirements: Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering (or foreign education equivalent) or related field plus three (3) years of experience as a Product Engineer or related occupation in product development and requirement characterization of integrated circuit devices or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering (or foreign education equivalent) or related field and five (5) years of experience as a Product Engineer or related occupation in product development and requirement characterization of integrated circuit devices.
Specific skills/other requirements - Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) analyzing and presenting characterization data, and setting production limits using established statistical methodologies and data analysis software tools, such as EXENSIO Yield tool, JMP statistical software, and Manchester Histogrammer applications; DE defining qualification plan requirements for new products, processes and packages in compliance with corporate requirements and industry standard specifications utilizing tools such as JEDEC; DE verifying hardware for reliability testing and failure analysis for new products with Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and One Time Programmable (OTP) Memory, utilizing tools such as HTOL, BHAST and HAST; and DE applying Eight Disciplines “8D” methodology to evaluate and submit changes to electrical specifications or manufacturing steps for existing product datasheets, through Engineering Change Notice (ECN), Production Change Notice (PCN) customer notification system. Salary: $180,003.00 - $224,250.00/year
