Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP Payroll Expert to lead and support the delivery of SAP HR, Payroll, and Time Management solutions for New Zealand Police. This role is embedded within the ICT Corporate Products Team and is responsible for managing both BAU and strategic initiatives through to mid-2026. The successful candidate will bring deep SAP functional and technical expertise, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and a delivery mindset aligned with Accenture’s values.

Key Responsibilities:

BAU Activities:

  • Implement Collective Agreement provisions across SAP modules.

  • Manage regular Payroll updates including wage types, rules, and schema changes.

  • Apply SAP OSS notes and ensure system compliance.

  • Maintain Time Management configurations including leave, quotas, and wage type generation.

  • Service Now Incidents and Jira’s.

Strategic Workstreams (through June 2026):

  • Deliver Employee A–J Overtime changes (completion by Nov 2025).

  • Lead pilot of Constabulary Overtime FIORI app (Feb 2026), with potential ERM integration.

  • Review and apply legal changes for the new tax year.

  • Align work schedules and rosters across SAP HCM.

  • Integrate Comms Centres workforce management tool (Aspect) with SAP.

  • Implement Workride (where staff can purchase a bike and pay it off with their organisation) and.

  • Work From Home policy changes into SAP.

  • SAP HR (HCM)

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Capability:

  • 15+ years in senior SAP HR/PY roles with strong technical and functional advisory experience.

  • Proven leadership in cross-functional delivery using SAFe and waterfall methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP implementation and Level 2/3 support in complex environments.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead systems design, integration, and configuration activities.

  • Responsibility for application reliability, maintainability, and serviceability.

  • Identify and implement process improvements and enhancements.

  • Provide expert-level support and guidance across SAP modules.

  • Drive resolution of complex enterprise application issues.

Specialist Knowledge:

Payroll & Time Management:

  • Deep understanding of NZ Payroll legislation and operational payroll practices.

  • Full lifecycle implementation of SAP HCM, Payroll, and Time solutions.

  • Expertise in Payroll schemas, rules, and interfaces to Finance/third parties.

  • Experience with Payroll ABAP developments, SAP OSS, and Epi-use reporting tools.

HR / HCM:

  • Strong operational HR background with SAP HCM expertise.

  • Knowledge of NZ HR policy and legislation.

  • Experience in building rosters and schedules in SAP.

  • Configuration knowledge of Personnel Administration and Organisation Management.
