About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support projects within the Hardware Design team, focusing on developing future products. In this role, you will own subsystems within larger projects, working closely under a Lead Mechanical Engineer. You will be involved in selecting concepts and technologies to meet product requirements, and will contribute to the design, prototyping, validation, manufacturing, and maintenance of products while ensuring their scalability, reliability, and simplicity.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to provide technical expertise and collaborate with other engineers, while maintaining a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to project execution. Strong analytical skills are essential for solving complex problems, making informed decisions, and addressing challenges. Comfort with hands-on work is important, as you will remain engaged with the practical aspects of design and development. You will contribute to project activities, drive decision-making processes, and support clear and transparent communication across teams. This role reports to the manager of Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the creation of products from concept to mass production, focusing on specific subsystems within larger projects
  • Support the design, build, assembly, and testing of product prototypes, with attention to durability and long-term performance
  • Assist in decision-making processes during design reviews, ensuring that choices align with project goals
  • Collaborate with electrical and firmware engineers to implement designs that meet product requirements and maintain cross-functional alignment
  • Develop and maintain mechanical designs and BOM in 3D CAD (NX), and create engineering specifications that define components and subassemblies
  • Maintain clear product records in PLM (Arena), ensuring documentation is up-to-date and accessible
  • Promote clear and transparent communication within the team, and provide updates on project status, risks, and key decisions

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of product design experience with a demonstrated ability to manage subsystems within larger projects
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, with experience in mechanism design and designing for strength and reliability
  • Experience in designing consumer-oriented products using various processes and materials, including plastic molding and metal parts (sheet metal, diecast, MIM, CNC, etc.)
  • Solid math skills, including geometry, calculus, and physics
  • Familiarity with CAD (Siemens NX preferred) and other mechanical design software (ANSYS)
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a balance of creative and critical thinking
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Good communication skills, with a focus on clear and transparent reporting
  • Understanding of customer needs and use cases
  • Demonstrates a proactive and self-starting attitude, able to take initiative and work independently with minimal guidance while contributing effectively to team projects.
  • Experience working with Asian manufacturing and supply chains including experience and willingness to travel internationally for key supplier meetings and NPI builds

More about Level Home:

When we look around our homes today, we see opportunity. We see “smart” products that lack utility and connected devices that push us further apart. We see consumers with high expectations, current standards set too low, and products that simply fail to deliver.

Level Home Inc. is re-inventing the standard. We’re redefining “smart”, to center around thoughtfulness, practicality, and the people who make the problem worth solving. We approach product design with a blank slate, zero assumptions, and an open mind because the way a problem is defined sets the stage for its solution. We couple deep expertise with unbridled curiosity, because to us “smart” means simple, intuitive, and useful.

We start with empathy, take new perspectives, and challenge existing standards. People are at the heart of what we do, and respecting their style, choices, and preferences is the first step to uncovering a thoughtful solution that truly improves their daily lives. After all, we’re not just designing products for a house, we are designing them for the people who make it a home.
