Who will you be working with?
The Product Quality Specialist for final drive transmissions is responsible for the reliability growth of the mining final drive equipment, including but not limited to gearing, bearings, structures, assembly of such, test and final inspection. The role has daily interface with the customer, manufacturing, quality, engineering, and field service teams.

The Product Quality Specialist leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business that are aimed at improving product reliability. In this role you are responsible for giving technical and program leadership on major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, managing complex issues, and contributing to the overall business strategy.
What do we want to know about you?
BS Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related Engineering field.
Minimum 5 yrs experience in surface mining, final mechanical drives, or related industry.
Understanding of mechanical gearbox/transmission design and function
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.
Ability to drive projects to ultimate completion.
Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes & procedures.
Six Sigma, Shanin or other quality training and certifications a definite plus.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
What will your typical day look like?
Provide project leadership to complete reliability growth projects with cross functional teams.
Effectively communicate project status to customers and to all levels of the Wabtec organization.
Identify quality issues and engage quality leadership to determine root cause and drive resolution.
Provide reliability performance feedback and input to engineering and manufacturing throughout fabrication, assembly and test processes.
Support field issue resolution with cross functional team.
Receive, track and manage disposition of field returned material. Perform and coordinate testing and evaluation with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality to determine root cause of component failures.
Provide input for Manufacturing Instruction development and review.
Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, and global engineering.
