The Red Hat Ansible Engineering team (https://www.ansible.com/) is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager in the Raleigh/Durham area. This is a delivery manager position for the Ansible Automation Platform Services team.  The Platform Services team provides critical services to the rest of the Ansible Automation Platform.  You will manage the team, set the culture, and work closely with Product Management, Architecture, and other engineers to understand, define, size, and deliver the product increment. You will take in multiple inputs from team members and from outside the team to assess risk, make decisions, and take action.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the team into an Agile mindset where teams deliver high quality product increment by partnering and collaborating across roles and with one another

  • Collaborate with team members and cross-departmental stakeholders in defining and prioritizing business and technical deliverables

  • Serve as an escalation point for issues; provide guidance, resolve issues as necessary, and remove obstacles for the team

  • Perform all people management functions and responsibilities associated with hiring, compensation management, employment relations, etc.

  • Develop team members: coach employees through their personal growth in functional expertise, communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with clients and peers

  • Assist with identifying and developing future leaders

  • Utilize data to monitor and assess operational health, code quality, and team health

  • Manage project status and customer escalations

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in software development, quality assurance, or related technical field

  • Leadership experience with globally distributed engineering teams and/or software development projects

  • 6+ years of significant software development experience

  • Experience with software development practices including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CICD)

  • Experience evaluating risk and formulating delivery and mitigation plans

  • Coaching, mentorship, feedback, and accountability for members of the team and the whole organization.

  • Ability to provide metrics-based reports for projects and people performance

  • Experience driving complex technical and people management challenges to resolution

  • Energy and passion for building high-performing, agile teams in a fast- paced, outcome-driven environment

  • Demonstrated technical skills to effectively manage and mentor technical team members

The salary range for this position is $142,140.00 - $234,500.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
