Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service identifying and solving issues within multiple components of critical business systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of applications and providing technical support to end-users. Your typical day will involve troubleshooting and resolving application issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to key decisions to enhance system performance and user experience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. NetScaler ADC Configuration and Management:
o Design, implement, and manage Citrix NetScaler ADC for load balancing, SSL offloading, content switching, and global server load balancing (GSLB).
o Configure NetScaler Gateway for secure remote access to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop) and other enterprise applications.
o Implement Citrix NetScaler HA (High Availability) and clustering to ensure high availability and redundancy across critical services.
2. Traffic Management and Load Balancing:
o Manage NetScaler load balancing for applications and services, ensuring optimized performance and seamless failover.
o Configure and manage HTTP/HTTPS, TCP, UDP, and other types of load balancing methods based on application needs.
o Monitor and optimize traffic flow and ensure efficient distribution of traffic across backend servers.
3. Security and SSL Offloading:
o Manage SSL/TLS certificates for NetScaler, configure SSL offloading, and ensure secure delivery of web applications.
o Implement Application Firewall (AppFirewall) to protect against threats and vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and denial of service (DoS) attacks.
o Collaborate with the security team to maintain compliance with security standards and policies.
4. Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB):
o Design and implement GSLB to distribute traffic across multiple geographic locations, ensuring application availability and disaster recovery.
o Configure GSLB policies to intelligently route user requests to the most appropriate datacenter based on factors such as proximity, availability, and performance.
5. NetScaler Gateway Management:
o Configure and manage NetScaler Gateway to provide secure access to Citrix Virtual Apps, Desktops, and other applications.
o Manage VPN and clientless access through the gateway for secure remote access to internal resources.
o Ensure consistent user experience and seamless connectivity for remote users through NetScaler Gateway.
6. Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
o Monitor Citrix NetScaler infrastructure using NetScaler MAS (Management and Analytics System) or Citrix ADM (Application Delivery Management) for real-time performance metrics, traffic analysis, and proactive alerting.
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to load balancing, application delivery, SSL/TLS configurations, and network connectivity.
o Perform regular health checks, upgrades, and patching for the NetScaler environment.
7. Citrix Networking and Integration:
o Work closely with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops teams to optimize the delivery of virtualized applications and desktops.
o Integrate NetScaler ADC with other networking components such as firewalls, routers, switches, and VPN appliances.
o Manage network address translation (NAT), firewall rules, and other network policies for secure communication between NetScaler and backend services.
8. Documentation and Compliance:
o Create and maintain detailed documentation for NetScaler configurations, network architecture, traffic management rules, and security policies.
o Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies for network and application security.
9. Level 3 Escalation Support:
o Provide Level 3 support for Citrix NetScaler-related incidents, including performance degradation, security breaches, and connectivity issues.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams during major incidents and ensure timely resolution of issues.
Professional & Technical Skills:
• Required Technical Skills:
o Strong experience with Citrix NetScaler ADC, including design, deployment, and management.
o Expertise in load balancing, SSL offloading, GSLB, content switching, and traffic management.
o In-depth knowledge of Citrix NetScaler Gateway for remote access to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
o Experience with SSL/TLS certificate management, AppFirewall, and security best practices for application delivery.
o Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, VPN, and other networking protocols.
o Hands-on experience with NetScaler MAS/Citrix ADM for monitoring and analytics.
• Preferred Skills:
o Familiarity with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop) integration with NetScaler.
o Experience with high availability and disaster recovery setups in Citrix environments.
o Knowledge of network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Experience Level:
o 5+ years of experience in managing Citrix NetScaler ADC and networking components in a large-scale enterprise environment.
o 3+ years of experience in configuring and managing NetScaler Gateway for secure remote access.
o
Education and Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as:
o Citrix Certified Associate – Networking (CCA-N).
o Citrix Certified Professional – Networking (CCP-N).
o Citrix Certified Expert – Networking (CCE-N) is a plus.

• Take part in 24x7 Shift rotations including Morning, Evening and Night Shifts.
• Work out of hours, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays at reasonable request to perform production changes.
• Travel to other locations when required.
