The Role: Specialist, Fixed Assets (Record to Report)

The Team: Be part of a global record to report team and collaborate with other Fixed Asset team members, domestic and international retained R2R staff, and global business unit staff, focusing on achieving team / company objectives.

The Impact:  From workday fourteen to the following month’s workday eight, this position will be assisting the Fixed Assets manager with the monthly Fixed Assets tasks. After the month end close cycle is complete, the applicant will be completing monthly Fixed Assets reconciliations from workday nine through workday thirteen.

This position is responsible for helping the Fixed Asset Manager oversee the consolidation and analysis of the S&P Global Property, Plant, and Equipment, and reporting the monthly activities to the business units, internal auditors, and the Corporate Controller’s office. This includes the oversight of the Oracle Fixed Asset system, which posts all global financial activities to the general ledger for both fixed assets and goodwill and intangible assets. This individual is also responsible for monthly reconciliations, and reporting on all local statutory, federal, state, sales and property tax information to the Corporate Tax Department and local business unit Controller’s.

From workday nine to workday thirteen, the candidate will be performing global Fixed Asset reconciliations, meeting the reconciliation policy requirements and working closely with the Finance teams to complete the reconciliations. The candidate should be proactive in getting the reconciliation items cleared on a timely manner.

Understand subsystems such as Oracle (R12) Fixed Assets and GL, the Oracle reconciliation tool, and any of our legacy systems to ensure the overall end-to-end process works continuously and effectively. Adhere to accounting, audit, systems controls, and procedures ensuring compliance with corporate policies and SOX controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide meaningful analysis for the Corporation’s Property and Equipment.
  • Review consolidated balance sheet and expense schedules for Property and Equipment.
  • Review consolidated cash flow information.
  • Monitor all risk control assessments on a quarterly/yearly basis.
  • Implement and review all U.S. and local statutory tax requirements.
  • Provide input and feedback on departmental processes and propose ways to improve them with the automation tools available to the team.
  • Support monthly close process in the Oracle Fixed Asset system.
  • Use the Agile process to propose and implement all enhancements, fixes, and upgrades for the Oracle Fixed Asset system.
  • Monitor policy compliance for capitalizing and disposing S&P Global fixed assets.
  • Provide information for all internal and external auditors.
  • Coordinate all fixed asset activities for acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Monitor and approve all content related to the R2R Fixed Assets website.
  • Gather and review external Census information.
  • Gather and review insurance reporting information for all fixed assets.
  • Insure all Goodwill and Intangible assets are properly staged for reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with internal technical team to ensure Fixed Assets module is functioning properly.
  • From workday nine to workday thirteen work on the Global Fixed Asset reconciliations assigned and complete them within the reconciliation deadline
  • Coordinate with the global finance teams and Controllers’ teams to get the reconciling items cleared on a timely manner and provide audit support related to the reconciliations.
  • Performs back fill and support to other accountants in the team
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact and collaborate with internal (employees) and external customers at all levels including third parties to achieve results.
  • Strong ability to analyze and resolve issues timely and efficiently while ensuring SOX compliance is imperative.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people globally supporting not only internal employees but also our external customers globally to resolve issues.
  • High degree of accuracy and management of workload; understanding of contributions to the overall end-to-end process; ability to meet deadlines is critical.
  • Must be able to work independently, be accountable for processes/tasks performed, and understand when an issue should be escalated to management.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated to achieve objectives; may be required to take a leading position for projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of accounting and reconciliation experience required
  • College level Accounting degree preferred
  • Experience with Oracle R12 and system maintenance preferred.
  • Willingness to learn our new systems and legacy systems at a fast phase
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required; the ability to interact and collaborate with internal and external customers at all levels of management and staff globally.
  • Skills in dealing with offshore partners and communication.
  • High degree of accuracy and management of heavy workload; understanding of contributions to the overall end to end process; possess a global perspective of how functions impact the company as a whole.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products specifically Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Must be assertive to follow up on resolving issues; ability to multi-task in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
  • Must be able to work independently, be accountable for processes/tasks performed, and understand when an issue should be elevated to management. 
  • Flexible to work during the US working hours & Close schedule and render overtime when there is a strong business need.
  • Must be amenable to work US Hours
  • Amenable for a Hybrid Setup.
