Job Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for directing and leading strategic objectives and sales activities for all Retail Sales Groups (Food Service Distribution, National and Industrial Sales segments). Will provide vision, leadership and direction for the strategy to maximize profit for Wayne-Sanderson Farms.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic sales vision and plan(s) for all segments within Prepared Foods, including Food Service, National Accounts, Industrial and Retail Sales.
  • Direct responsibility for managing all trade and sales pricing/contracts
  • As a key member of the Prepared Foods management team will share in the overall management and performance of the Prepared Foods P&L and will have influence over decisions that roll up to the overall Wayne-Sanderson Farms P&L.
  • Active participant in executing the plan and driving adjustments as needed in monthly S&OP meetings.
  • Develop a strategic marketing plan for Food Service Distribution, National Accounts, Industrial, and Retail Sales, which ties to and supports the overall sales objectives and “go-to-market” strategy of the Prepared Foods business unit of Wayne-Sanderson Farms.
  • Work with sales professionals to actively solicit new business and expand customer base.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships which will require travel for customer visits, meetings, presentations and other sales activities.
  • Provide direction in effectively managing the sales mix to provide Wayne-Sanderson Farms with maximum profit margins.
  • In conjunction with Prepared Foods leadership, assist in the strategic direction of Product Development process to develop customized products to enhance our customers business while maximizing the return to Wayne-Sanderson Farms
  • Integrates focus of Research & Development, Operations, Quality Assurance and other departments to assure highest possible level of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitors and analyzes sales growth and/or competitive opportunities, and recommend strategic responses accordingly.
  • Accountable for hiring and professional development of the prepared foods Sales and customer care teams. 
  • Demonstrate strong capability in leadership competencies of Business Acumen, Strategic Agility, Customer Focus, Command Skills and Building Effective Teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum 10–15-year progressive experience managing sales and/or marketing organizations
  • Demonstrated superior skills in leadership and sales management.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply sales techniques. Successful completion of relevant
    Professional Sales Training is preferred, as well as the ability to coach and mentor these skills for others.
  • Demonstrated skills in independent decision-making and recommendations to Management.
  • Knowledge of market strategies, budgets, pricing strategies, and general economics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of computer literacy.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, Poultry Science, Food Science, or other relevant discipline. MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises and/or directs the Food Service Distribution, National Accounts, Industrial, Retail Sales, and Customer Care Teams for the Prepared Foods Business Unit.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work non-standard hours (i.e., holidays, weekends and/or extended shifts as needed per business need
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas were mandatory
