Job Description:
The Operations Accountant is part of the Accounting Department and is responsible for the detailed evaluation of project contracts and related documents. In reviewing these documents, the Operations Accountant will identify risk and exposure then communicate these items to appropriate levels within the organization.
REGULAR JOB DUTIES
- Analyze project documents and develop reports for waterworks construction projects
- Write accruals and deferrals sharing this information with project managers and the Finance team
- Verify that quantities claimed match the owner's estimate
- Deeply analyze budgets and job costs and provide Project Managers of items left behind budget and areas of risk
- Review, audit, and make suggestions related to job costs during the bi-annual Budget Revision cycle
- Prepare financial reports from multiple data points for use by the management team and external parties
- Assist in the development of regular periodic budgets which help Webber to prepare for long-term strategic plans
- Create, review, share, and respond to periodic reports including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis
- Generate ad-hoc payroll reports as requested
- Log and report information by inputting information into Microsoft Excel. Create documents in Microsoft Word
- Maintain an organized work area, filing system, E-mail inbox, and to-do list ensuring that goals and activities are completed on time
- Prioritize and manage multiple work projects simultaneously
- Other unlisted duties will be assigned
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Two (2) or more years of experience in budgeting, financial statement analysis, and executive reporting
- Two (2) or more years of construction related work experience
- Two (2) or more years of experience using SAP or similar ERP
- High level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Access and MS PowerPoint
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Full understanding of Construction Math concepts
- Be able to communicate effectively in English via verbal and written communications
- Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
