POSITION OVERVIEW

Thrive Lab is an innovation lab and social impact investment vehicle delivered through a co-investment partnership initiative. Its goal is to build a stronger ecosystem to support the creation of a new pipeline of women-led impact-driven businesses with a particular focus on those that contribute to transformative social change.

We’re looking for a passionate, mission-driven individual, excited about investing in early-stage, woman-led, impact-driven businesses. As Portfolio Coordinator, you support the team managing the Lab in all aspects of its operations and investment activities. You are highly organized with a strong attention to detail and excellent communications skills. A team player, you work with the team and support the research and analysis for prospective and current impact investments leveraging our unique co-investment and partnership model.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET 

Platform Building

  • Participate in innovation discussions to create new offerings for women founders looking to build and grow impact-driven businesses.

  • Assist in the implementation of a strategy to build the impact investing ecosystem.

  • Assist in the development and management of relationships with key decision makers in the innovation sector including incubators, accelerators, family offices, angel groups and other ecosystem players to create a pipeline of investments.

Deal Making

  • Coordinate and participate in introductory calls with women-led companies, to assess the potential and deliver information about the Thrive Lab and its investment process.

  • Participate and support the investment team in conducting due diligence on impact using the five dimension of impact framework (IMP), market research, competition, management, sales, products/technology, cap table, valuation and exit strategies.

  • Support in drafting investment memos.

  • Participate in managing the pipeline of investment opportunities along with ecosystem proposals from co-investment partners.

Portfolio Management & Support

  • Assist in the management of ongoing relationships with executives of investee companies, promptly responding to all inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, as well as with representatives from the investment, impact and technology communities through active and ongoing marketing efforts.

  • Assist investees with introductions to potential suppliers, investors, and employees.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, STEM or equivalent (concentration in finance, accounting or business administration is preferred)

  • One to three years in financial services or a banking institution

  • Venture capital or impact investing experience is an asset

  • Excellent computer skills for conducting research as well as specific programs such as Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Able to work in a dynamic and productive team environment

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Supportive and helpful attitude – willingness to proactively identify gaps and jump-in to fill them

  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform under limited supervision using initiative and good judgment to assess priorities

  • Continuous learning attitude, with maturity to take feedback constructively

  • Exercise discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive situations and maintaining an appropriate level of confidentiality

  • Excellent interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills in English; French fluency would be an asset.
