Job Summary

Working as part of an integrated cross-functional team, Business Intelligence (BI) Analysts turn data into information and knowledge, understand how that information/knowledge supports and enables key business processes, and communicate those insights for maximum business impact. BI Analysts contribute to the business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs of the organization. It is essential that BI Analysts build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues. They provide data that is accurate, congruent, and reliable, and ensure the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems. BI Analysts educate and train customers to use data as an analytical tool. BI Analysts work with customers to determine business requirements, priorities, and define key performance indicators (KPI). This includes working with business or clinical teams to design and document dashboards, alerts, reports, or applications. This role is accountable for facilitating information gathering, structured documentation, and presenting findings. BI Analysts must have an interest in going beyond the obvious to create information, find insights, and turn those insights into a story to drive impact and better decision-making. They must work well within a team environment.

Essential Functions

  • Create visual design solutions and easy-to-understand reports and dashboards using a vendor supplied analytics tool that deliver insights.
  • Analyzes, designs, codes, configures, tests, debugs, deploys, documents, and maintains reporting assets.
  • Utilizes appropriate methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data and information by making use of basic BI reporting tools.
  • Collaborates well with internal/external stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and create solutions based on requirements.
  • Effectively liaison between the business and report/dashboard developers, communicating their reporting needs clearly to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Works with Sr. and Lead Analysts to ensure that processes and services are continuously monitored for data accuracy, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Supports processes and quality improvement activities.
  • Performs job-related duties in conformance with DS standards. Coaches less experienced Business Intelligence Analysts.
  • Provides analytics that can turn data into critical information in understanding a systemic business need.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business, liberal arts, computer science, application programming, software development, information systems, database administration, mathematics, engineering, or related field
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working with health insurance data, specifically from a commercial payer
  • Able to work in a hybrid setting
  • Strong business acumen
  • Claims data experience

Preferred

  • Experience functioning in a process improvement environment
  • Experience utilizing project management tools (i.e. Jira, Miro)
