As a SRE DevOps Director, you will play a critical role in managing the production environment for site reliability and optimizing our development workflows, automating infrastructure provisioning, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation across development and operations teams.
Role Expectations -
- Develop and execute a comprehensive SRE strategy, best practices and roadmap aligned with business objectives, focusing on automation, scalability, stability and reliability.
- Lead the team in daily agile SRE practices, ensuring proper team focus on priorities, achievements, and deliverables.
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery of software releases.
- Monitoring and Logging: Establish robust monitoring and logging mechanisms using tools like Prometheus, ELK stack, or New Relic or DynaTrace to proactively identify and address performance issues and security threats.
- Optimize velocity and efficiency of delivery, and drive continuous improvement
- Success depends on strong understanding of SRE principles and practices, combined with a track record of resolving issues in a live production environment, and implementing strategies to minimize them while driving clear action plans for the team.
- Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices for infrastructure and application security, including vulnerability scanning, access controls, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
- DevOps Culture: Promote a DevOps culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning, fostering cross-functional teams and facilitating knowledge sharing sessions and workshops.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to DevOps engineers, empowering them to achieve excellence in their roles and contribute to the overall success of the team.
- Identify opportunities for performance optimization and cost reduction in cloud infrastructure and application architecture, leveraging cloud-native services and best practices.
Core Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience 15+ years in a hands-on DevOps role, with a track record of successfully leading SRE, DevOps initiatives and driving process improvements.
- The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated with a passion for excellence, quality, and detail. As a leader, they are responsible for coaching and mentoring their team members, helping them achieve service goals, and build career paths in alignment. It’s imperative for the leader to empower their team by providing appropriate context and timely feedback.
- Strong emphasis on SRE as an engineering subject area, with proficiency in at least in one of the following languages (Golang, Rust, Python, Swift)
- Understanding of SRE principals, including monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault analysis, and other common reliability engineering concepts, with a keen eye for opportunities to eliminate toil by code and process improvements
- Superb interpersonal skills, capable of working with multi-functional technical and business teams and varying levels of management, influencing decision making
- Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and related services, with experience in architecting and managing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Proficiency in IaC languages like Terraform, CloudFormation.
- Strong scripting and programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and tooling development.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes), including deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
- Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with Agile Methodologies
Good To Have Skills -
- Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Jenkins Engineer are a plus.
- Programming knowledge of Java or any other comparable language will be an added advantage.
