Position Summary:  

The Payroll Supervisor, in collaboration with the Payroll Manager, manages and coordinates the payroll processing tasks for the Payroll Department to ensure employees paid correctly and payroll tax processing meets all regulatory reporting and filing requirements.

This position oversees the process for ensuring payroll inputs are correct, providing oversight on corrections, compiling payroll reports and statistics, validation of pay components, performing control reviews, and settling payroll.  This position is responsible for providing training, oversight to offshore payroll staff of approximately 4.   In addition, this position will work with the Payroll Manager to identify and implement process improvement to increase the efficiency of the payroll function.

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Supervises and coordinates daily workflow, coaching, and training of offshore payroll staff
  • Ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time and wages and deductions are accurately reflected on W2s
  • Ensures all appropriate taxes, deductions, and contributions are accurately withheld.
  • Provide end-user support for all Payroll systems and programs. (IE new hires, rehires, leaves and PTO).  
  • Gather user requirements, creating, verifying, and analyzing custom payroll-related reports (ad hoc, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual) for management and to support Bureau of Labor reporting.
  • Review and coordinate pay component mappings to general ledger with the Accounting dept.
  • Provide guidance and communication strategies to help resolve escalated payroll inquiries.
  • Provide oversight and assistance with garnishments responsibility (taxes, child support, etc.).
  • Review the accuracy of submitted status changes and off-cycle pay settlements.
  • Review and validate electronic interfaces and integrations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Implements and performs internal controls throughout the payroll process to ensure the integrity of data and payroll payments
  • Analyzes and reports data as needed to support company initiatives, as needed
  • Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices

Position Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience processing payroll for a large enterprise.
  • Multi-state payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of labor and payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Workday Payroll or similar.
  • Experience coordinating with an external pay agent such as ADP, Paycom, Ceridian, etc.
  • Fluency in MSOffice (Word, Excel)
  • The ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships in a team environment.
  • Experience in payroll implementations, pay component mappings, and/or migrations.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and are able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Integrity and maintaining the confidential nature of the information by protecting the privacy of our employees and their records.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and detailed oriented.
  • Knowledge of labor and payroll tax laws and regulations.

Additional Commentary:

Candidates that excel in this role should have a substantial viewpoint into various local payroll taxes. Working with ADP to remain compliant in various areas of payroll processing and payroll documents. Any prior HRIS knowledge would be helpful.
