About the Team:

Our growing Product Design team is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help evolve the product experience in collaboration with a diverse group of cross-functional partners in engineering, developer education, product management, support, marketing, and sales.

As a critical member of our Design Team, you’ll keep our users at the center of your process and balance near- and long-term initiatives that drive us toward building a better web. With our team, you’ll share and collaborate early and often, driving and facilitating meaningful discussion with a blend of in-person and async transparent communication. You’ll lead initiatives ranging from iterative feature improvements to explorations with high ambiguity that demand innovation. There’s plenty to do, so be ready to roll up your sleeves to help shape our team and raise the quality of developer and team experiences.

What You’ll Do:

  • Use your prior experience to lead projects toward user and business solutions and drive the design work and team from MVP to full-realized features and flows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mainly Product and Engineering partners to represent the design team, build bridges, facilitate design kickoffs and discussions, and drive the user experience forward.
  • Partner directly with the Marketing Design team on overlapping visual language between marketing and in-app surfaces.
  • Own, maintain, and evolve our design system to help streamline the design and collaborative cross-team processes.
  • Weave best accessibility practices into every phase of the design process.
  • Actively solicit feedback from your peers, including other product designers and cross-functional partners.
  • Support your team with thoughtful feedback and shape how we tell customer experience stories at Netlify.
  • Establish strong async communication rhythms with your peers and leaders, practicing transparency and visibility in your progress against areas of focus.
  • Contribute to our expanding research practice and run usability tests in collaboration with research partners.
  • Wrangle feedback from multiple stakeholders to arrive at a shared but opinionated solution.
  • Organize around multiple work streams, including prioritizing and timeboxing work as needed.
  • Independently support the design teams’ operational processes by establishing or following best practices that keep projects easy to parse and well-documented.

What You'll Bring:

  • A history of leading design efforts at a strategic level and shipping products related to developer tooling.
  • A breadth of experience in the iterative product development process, from problem definition, information architecture, and UX flows to interaction and UI design.
  • Rigor for accessibility, consistency, and high standard of quality.
  • A high level of comfort in working with developers in the presentation layer (for example, HTML, CSS) and is well-versed in using tools such as Figma and GitHub.
  • Consistent autonomy, pairing remotely or working async with peers and enjoyment working with diverse people within other functions.
  • Proficiency at iterating & circulating concepts with peers and building toward high-confidence proposals, effectively prototyping and storytelling at various fidelities throughout the process.
  • Drive in creating structure where there is ambiguity, can quickly adapt to organizational change and workstream shifts, and can help others navigate staffing and priority changes.
  • Can effectively communicate decision rationale and point to measurable impact of work.
  • Growth-oriented; curious and open to new technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Thrives in a cross-disciplinary and collaborative environment with product and engineering teams, where colleagues teach and learn from one another.
  • We don’t have educational requirements for roles at Netlify, so whether you went to a school or are self-taught, we encourage you to apply.
  • Preferred but not required: other design experience such as UX research, iconography, branding, and content design.
  • We welcome candidates based in the United States or Canada for this position.
