We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to join our Accounting and Finance team. In this role, you will report to the Controller, and be responsible for efficiently managing and processing payrolls for our US employees and reviewing international payrolls processed by our local Payroll service providers. You will possess an understanding of global payroll regulations and employment-related matters. You will collaborate closely with HR and play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage and own the entire payroll process, including preparation, processing, and reconciliation of the Company's global and multi-state payroll, ensuring payroll is accurately and timely calculated, processed, and disbursed for all employees across multiple countries and payroll methods.
  • Stay up to date with local tax laws, labor regulations, and statutory requirements in all countries of operation. Ensure that the payroll is compliant with respective laws and regulations. Update payroll policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to ensure the accurate collection of payroll data, validate and process payroll information, including but not limited to regular wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, stock based compensation, deductions, retirement election changes, special payments, and taxes. Perform payroll reconciliations and audits to ensure accuracy and address discrepancies promptly. Oversee the year-end payroll process, including the issuance of W-2 forms and tax filings.
  • Oversee and optimize the payroll management systems and processes, ensuring that they are efficient, and aligned with the company's needs.
  • Implement robust data security measures to protect sensitive payroll information and maintain the highest level of confidentiality in handling payroll data.
  • Generate accurate and timely payroll reports for management and other stakeholders as required. Analyze payroll data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with external payroll service providers ensuring the quality of service, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to service level agreements. Coordinate with external auditors and tax agencies as needed to support audits and inquiries.
  • Act as the main point of contact for responses to all employee inquiries for guidance on pay slips or payroll-related questions, both internationally and domestically.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and enhance the payroll process to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness. Propose and implement process improvements and automation initiatives. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the department/company.

What You’ll Need:

  • 6+ years of payroll experience, preferably with 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in global payroll management in a multinational company.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and employment-related matters.
  • CPP certification is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, preferred.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and systems (ADP, etc), including experience with implementing and optimizing payroll systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross- functional teams and to effectively communicate complex payroll matters to employees and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with utmost professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast- paced environment.
  • Problem-solving attitude with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and work under pressure.
  • Sense of urgency around the global payroll process and comfort supporting multiple time zones

Additional Job details

The base salary range for this position is $140k - $150k annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work at Sigma Computing. This role is eligible for stock options, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
