Are you energized by the challenge of designing innovative ways to use Process Engineering to develop medicines for patients? If so, this Process Engineering opportunity could be an exciting opportunity to consider. The Process Engineering Team within the Upper Merion, Biopharmaceutical Pilot Plant delivers technical and engineering expertise to support the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) used for development and clinical trials of life changing and life saving medicines used by patients around the world.  These engineers are responsible for providing support for the introduction of new processes, equipment or technologies into the pilot plant along with providing process improvements to increase reliability within the facility.  We are seeking an introductory level engineer to deliver the technical knowledge and engineering expertise to provide process and project engineering support  for manufacturing of biopharmaceutical processes and managing of pilot plant equipment and facility infrastructure.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career.  These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Coordinate and provide technical, process, and project engineering support to Pilot Plant manufacturing operations:  this includes evaluation and facilitation of project and engineering activity proposals for manufacturing operations and serving as the engineering resource on process technology transfers and process development efforts.
  • Serve as Project Manager for multi-disciplinary projects:  this includes the establishment of the project scope, project skill set and personnel requirements, overall project schedules, and project budgets while managing vendors and contract staff and serving as liason between the project team and management of the respective lines. 
  • Provide technical leadership for the specification, installation, commissioning, calibration and validation of process equipment/devices/instrumentation to support new capital investment as well as upgrades to existing equipment. Activities include engagement with engineering and validation service contractors, interfacing with vendors and suppliers, performance of engineering evaluations for equipment/ device/instrument selection, completion of engineering calculations, oversight of construction and installation for small capital projects, drafting and overseeing execution of commissioning protocols, coordination of preventative maintenance and calibration activities, etc.
  • Conduct Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, and Quality related assessments and management monitoring activities to ensure compliance with corporate standards; participate in deviation, root cause investigations and mitigation activities to ensure implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). 

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering
  • 2+ years manufacturing, processing or design experience

Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Work experience and knowledge of biopharmaceutical processing and GMP manufacturing operations
  • Automation control experience with DCS systems
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work within a collaborative environment.
  • Effective in change management process
