Let’s talk about this role 

As the Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of applications to support a range of business needs in nib Thrive.

Some other key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing thought leadership on how best to maximise the use of bespoke software so that nib Thrive technologies are built in a maintainable, effective, and fit-for-purpose way

  • Ensuring application alignment with product teams, business stakeholders, UX designers, and architecture teams

  • Assisting in the coordination and management of the production processes around applications and their associated infrastructure

  • Contributing to the broader software development community and being the go-to expert by demonstrating a high level of knowledge in the field of software development

  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced developers, plus champion continuous improvement within the team
     

This is a 2-year Fixed Term Contract.

Let’s talk about you 

With an architectural mindset and demonstrated knowledge of software engineering principles, other skills and experience that will help set you up for success in this role include:

  • Extensive commercial experience developing solutions in modern languages such as NodeJS/Typescript, C#/.NET

  • Experience with standard web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript)

  • Experience with frontend development frameworks like Angular or React

  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL

  • Hands-on experience in cloud-native environments such as AWS or Azure.

  • Advocate for good software engineering practices such as automated acceptance testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery

  • Degree qualification in relevant IT discipline, or equivalent professional experience

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong business acumen, finding pragmatic solutions to problems and raising opportunities

  • A willing to teach others and keen to learn
