 We are seeking a Senior Subcontracts Specialist to support some of our world-class aerospace programs across New Zealand and Australia.

With the support of industry experts and working as a part of cross functional program teams the successful candidate will draw from previous experience to ensure effective market engagement and subcontract management.

The ideal candidate will possess a sharp attention to detail and a solid grasp of contract and supplier management. You will handle comprehensive support and guidance, including drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts.

The successful candidate will assist in the management of contracts delivering advanced technology and engage in relationship management with local and global stakeholders.

While the position could be located in the Manawatu region, we are open to applicants working from anywhere in New Zealand. 

Responsibilities 

  • Draft, negotiate and manage a broad range of commercial agreements including NDAs, development, manufacturing and support services contracts and contract variations.
  • Provide advice to program and project managers and other business stakeholders on all subcontracting activities related to your program of work.
  • Liaise with Legal, Functional, Engineering and Commercial stakeholders.
  • Develop procurement strategies and priorities and lead their delivery through strong stakeholder relationships and understanding program requirements.
  • Conduct complex approach to market activities (RFx), analyse and evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate supplier deviations to subcontract provisions and recommend final supplier selection.
  • Monitor and report subcontract cost, schedule and status and recommend or implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • With the support of Global Trade Control specialists, ensure supplier activities are compliant with applicable regulatory trade control (export-import) requirements.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating, executing and managing simple procurements as required. 

Education

  • Tertiary Education in Commerce, Law or Business or relevant experience (highly desirable but not essential).

Experience/Qualifications 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in supplier management and/or sourcing with exposure to procurement contract terms and conditions (highly desirable).
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract law (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management to drive outcomes.
  • High level competency in written and oral communication and standard business tools and systems.
  • An enthusiasm for working with suppliers and identifying new opportunities and relationships.
  • The ability to work with cross functional teams.
  • The ability to work autonomously to see projects and opportunities through to completion
  • Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
