The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer is responsible for the ITS support of the Energy Management System (EMS) applications including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Transmission Network Application (TNA) and Information Model Management (IMM). This responsibility includes collaborating with ITS and Operations teams to identify dependencies on the appropriate teams, plan work, and execute the planned work. Some examples include upgrading an existing EMS application, upgrading a 3rd party application used by the EMS like Python, and ensuring that PJM policies and procedures (E.g. Resilience, Security and Business Continuity) are followed. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer is also responsible for driving resolution of production and potential production issues. This includes working with ITS and Operations teams to gather and analyze data, engage with vendors for support, and facilitate the resolution of issues. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer is responsible for identifying risks and when necessary following the process to document and receive approval for risk acceptance. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer works with Enterprise Architecture to review projects and technology as necessary.
The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer is responsible for understanding the requirements of the business units and supporting the project and support teams by mapping those requirements to effective products and services provided to the business clients. In support of that responsibility, the Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer will assist project managers and business unit managers as necessary to ensure the technical solutions meet the business needs, and are developed and implemented with high quality.
The scope of responsibility for the position includes project support, as well as maintenance and support activities.
The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer will lead a team to ensure that business and ITS goals and objectives are met on schedule. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer will delegate work to the team as needed. The Sr. (Lead) Analyst/Engineer will provide support and guidance to the team.

Essential Functions:

  • Be the ITS subject matter expert for EMS applications including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Transmission Network Application (TNA) and Information Model Management (IMM)

  • Learn the business – develop a deep understanding of the business functions and processes and communicate this understanding across the teams

  • Collaborate with ITS and Operations to meet both Operations and ITS objectives

  • Serve as a primary contact for the IT needs of the business units and establish a positive, service-oriented relationship to ensure timely and accurate delivery of IT services

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors

  • Assist business clients in developing requirements for and integrating systems from external vendors

  • Communicate and coordinate ITS changes with impacted business clients

  • Innovate and automate tasks where possible

  • Strong data analysis skills

  • Establish, monitor and maintain high client satisfaction levels

  • Document, track and resolve problems in client business systems

  • Determine and document functional requirements for projects in the client business area and for enhancements to client area systems

  • Have primary responsibility for all functional deliverables other than application code (work estimates, requirements documentation, conceptual design documentation, detailed design documentation, test plans, migration plans)

  • Schedule and participate in or facilitate and lead meetings as necessary (e.g., requirements definition sessions, JAD (Joint Application Development) sessions, design reviews, issue resolution, status meetings, etc)

  • Schedule and coordinate project and maintenance activities within the department or project team

  • Assist project management team and department management in developing work plans, including scope, milestones, schedule, resources and deliverables

  • Regularly develop status reports regarding workgroup or project team progress

  • Coordinate Change Management and Release Schedules

  • Lead Production Migration / Production Readiness planning

  • Ensure appropriate level of controls are applied to work efforts, including security requirements, to ensure efficient delivery of robust, effective business solutions

Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience

  • At least 5 years of work experience

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Experience using verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)


Preferred:

  • MBA degree

  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions

  • Experience supporting any of PJM Committees

  • Experience creating complex conceptual, architectural and data flow diagrams

  • Experience using JIRA and confluence
