Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) is looking for highly skilled and adaptable Senior Verification & Validation Systems Engineers to join our team in Albuquerque, NM., to provide project leadership to multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems.

Systems Engineering Verification and Validation support on a multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems.  This position support of a variety of laser and electro-optical programs for Government, Industry, and internal Boeing customers.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; (Level 5 & Level 6) Senior Verification & Validation Systems Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

  • Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  • Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  • Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

  • Develop, maintain, and identify improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

  • Resolve cross-functional technical issues

  • Occasional travel as needed

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Senior (Level 4) Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 7+ years of related work experience or PhD and 4+ years of related work experience (i.e., engineering experience)

  • Senior (Level 5) Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 12+ years of related work experience or PhD and 9+ years of related work experience (i.e., engineering experience)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of test program design (e.g., design of experiments, test plan development, validation)

  • Knowledge of electro-optical systems

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance or equivalent

  • Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

  • Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance

  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, communications, mechanical and tool and test software design technologies. Ability to support the design, development, test, installation, certification, delivery, and in-service support of avionic electrical, electronic and information technology systems and sub-systems

  • Knowledge of engineering analysis (e.g. mechanical, electrical, avionics, design, circuit, systems, stress, structural, durability)

  • Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables

  • Advanced knowledge of design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, equipment, and methods

  • Apply knowledge of engineering data (e.g., blueprints, data sets, specifications, logic diagrams, electrical circuit schematics) to interpret, analyze, and develop data for support requirements

  • Knowledge of hazard analyses, risk assessment, operational experience, lessons learned, industry acceptability, costs, schedule, incident trends, and regulatory environment to make product safety recommendations

  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance

Typical Education/Experience: 

(Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range (Level 4): 119,850 – 162,150

Summary pay range (Level 5): 147,050 – 198,950
