General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Engineer - New Product Introduction for its Alamo, TN location. This role is part of the North American
Engineering and Design to Value teams with a specific focus on products manufactured in Alamo. The Hitachi Energy facility in Alamo designs and manufactures transformer components including bushings, tap changers, and measurement/safety devices. Alamo is the largest condenser bushing factory, by volume, in the world. This position is eligible for relocation assistance. 
 

Your responsibilities 

  • Lead the local introduction of global development projects acting as a liaison between global and local engineering groups 
  • Lead the execution of projects that take proof of concept products and industrialize them 
  • Generate ideas that drive customer value and contribute to the cost out targets. Idea generation may be performed individually, with the Design to Value team, or as part of cross functional workshops/kaizen events. 
  • Develop detailed business cases and implementation plans 
  • Present business cases to cross functional teams (engineering, marketing, operations/manufacturing, supply chain and quality) to obtain project approval and ensure proper change management is followed 
  • Identify alternative materials for existing products, generate/revise material specifications 
  • Be the main point of contact for Strategic Sourcing opportunities and requests (deviation requests, alternate material authorization, technical review of supplier quotations) 
  • Develop tools and design concepts which reduce design/manufacturing/assembly time, improve quality, and optimize material usage 
  • Perform bill of material & cost model reviews

Your background 

  • Experience with transformer components such as bushings, tap changers, distribution components (preferred) 
  • Proven record of executing and delivering cost out projects and savings 
  • Experience working with 3D CAD software such as Pro-Engineer/CREO Parametric & Windchill (highly preferred) 
  • Experience working with SAP (preferred) 
  • Six Sigma Yellow / Green Belt and Lean manufacturing experience 
  • Project Experience using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) methodology 
  • Product development experience for industrial environments 
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
