What you will do: 

As a Program Manager of new product development within the Johnson Controls HVAC Ducted Systems Commercial business, you will provide project leadership and coaching to cross-functional teams to ensure deliverables are met and PDP (Product Development Process) disciplines are followed for applicable projects.  The Project Manager will assist in the development and application of accurate and consistent tools and processes for measuring and tracking throughout the life cycle of the project.   

How you will do it: 

  • Lead project teams by facilitating team meetings and agendas; Ensure common understanding of deliverables and open issues for each project phase; Drive open issues to resolution 

  • Own the creation and tracking of project schedules and reporting of project progress and performance 

  • Lead project teams in defining key project metrics and targets for items such as product costs, project costs, manufacturing metrics and quality goals. Track and report on progress to targets throughout project.  

  • Support product cost analysis activities as well as design and manufacturing process improvement efforts including make versus buy analysis activities 

  • Develop tools (spreadsheets, databases, SAP, etc.) required to support consistent, structured product cost analysis and tracking through costed Bills of Materials 

  • Analyze, verify and track product costs (material usage, material cost, equipment requirements, labor requirements, cycle times, etc.) to ensure achievement of targets for all assigned Commercial programs 

  • Ensure ongoing Commercial PMO and PDP process improvement and application of lessons learned 

What we look for: 

Required 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field with minimum 5 years of experience in project or program management or leading technical teams/projects in a functional management role  

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in a product development stage gate process (Waterfall, Agile, etc.) 

  • Broad technical understanding (products, development, manufacturing, product cost analysis, etc.) 

  • Proven project management proficiency with ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks and projects 

  • Strong people management, communication & presentation skills 

  • Willing to have courageous conversations, confronting issues in an open, but tactful way 

  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills 

  • Proven leadership and interpersonal/teamwork skills. 

  • Excellent computer and data analysis/management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as internet software and e-mail 

  • Available for up to10% travel 

Preferred 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management or leading technical teams/projects in a functional management role  

  • JCI Business Processes including SAP experience 

  • Direct work experience within the HVAC industry 

  • PMP certification
