Job Description

The opportunity: 

As Manager, Strategic Partnerships, you will be responsible for building external relationships and securing commercial partnerships and leading internal workstreams for execution to achieve the business objectives of AirAsia MOVE Malaysia. You will be crafting proposals and negotiating with partners to enter into commercially viable partnerships. This role reports to the Regional Head of Strategic Partnerships of MOVE Digital, the digital business arm of Capital A.

  • Education background from accounting, economics, commerce, law, finance, engineering. Having an MBA would be an advantage.

  • Deep understanding of e-commerce, Online Travel Agent or digital platform business models. 

  • 3 to 6 years experience in commercial partnerships, business development and project management.

  • Possess strong network of partner contacts across financial institutions, telco, e-commerce, lifestyle and retail verticals.

What you will do in this role:  

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with a network of partners across various industries, including financial institutions, telco, e-commerce, FMCG, lifestyle, and retail. 

  • Create and pitch business proposals which conceptualise, structure and define the terms of proposed partnerships, with key deliverables being presentation decks and financial projections. 

  • Closing commercial partnerships by negotiating with external partners and internal stakeholders (commercial, product, marketing) to win the parties’ mutual agreement of the terms of the partnership. 

  • Lead internal workstreams to ensure timely and successful execution of partnerships.

  • Track partnership performance post-launch to ensure business KPIs are met, and provide recommendations to enhance effectiveness of future partnerships.

  • Be an advocate and driver of positive change within the organisation, be it via product enhancements, process improvements or new revenue streams.

What you need to succeed: 

  • Good relationship management

    • Strong networker. Able to build, manage and maintain relationships between internal and external stakeholders with limited lead generation support, including leading and facilitating meetings and presentations to make progress on partnership projects and solve problems. 

    • Good English-language communicator with fluent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Comfortable managing stakeholders and expectations within unstructured, rapidly changing and complex situations.

  • Strong analytical and project management skills

    • Ability to structure, organise and communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner.

    • Ability to build a business case to illustrate the market opportunity, articulate the business problem a partnership will solve, and its projected financial returns, presented clearly using presentation slides, financial models and written reports.

    • Ability to proactively manage projects and unblock matters by identifying, escalating and solving problems to ensure timely project completion.

  • Strong commercial acumen and product understanding

    • Ability to understand the strategic drivers and the business models of Capital A’s digital products, and how economic and industry developments may impact the business.

    • Strong commercial drive with ability to build and monetize partner relationships that benefit Capital A’s digital business strategically and financially.
