The Role:

The Associate Director, Middle Office will sit within our London Operations team and will be helping to develop and implement a broad spectrum of processes across Equities, Fixed Income and Equity Derivatives. You will be responsible for managing all day-to-day middle office functions, so will need an excellent understanding of the day-to-day aspects of supporting these products. You will be responsible for documenting and implement procedures across the middle office team, whilst also working in partnership with the engineering teams.

The Team:

Clear Street’s mission is to become a single-source platform that serves a variety of investor types across multiple asset classes on a global scale. The Clear Street UK team is bringing Clear Street’s established equities, options, and fixed-income prime brokerage business to a new market. Given that this team is relatively new, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and build the European client service team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between our internal partners across the business, including the trading desk, operations and engineering teams to help resolve issues
  • Document and implement middle office policies and procedures for the Clear Street UK Entity
  • Address and resolve trade breaks with customers and brokers and make corrections in accordance with the processes and procedures
  • Resolve all trade and settlement breaks (Nostro/Stock/Control reconciliation exceptions)
  • Monitor trade flow and ensure post-trade processes are functioning properly including clearing and confirmation of transactions
  • Address and resolve pending, unmatched and unallocated trades with brokers and customers prior to settlement date
  • Proven track record in proactively responding to counterparty queries
  • Create account and reference data maintenance – specifically SSI’s
  • Experience in working with a Global custodial services provider
  • Process daily trades in MO/BO systems in an accurate and timely basis
  • Monitor SWIFT, CTM, ALERT, DTC ID and other industry tools for timely trade comparison
  • Produce and analyse trading and settlement data to better understand counterparty settlement trends and be able to report found information to senior management
  • Open new accounts to facilitate trade processing

 

Skills required:

  • At least five (5) years of professional related experience in a Middle Office function supporting multiple asset classes
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Cash Equity and Fixed Income PB products, Swap/Synthetic PB and Stock Lending/Equity Finance
  • Knowledge of CTM/ALERT
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel
  • Proficiency with Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Participate in the testing of system enhancements
  • Create and maintain departmental Policy & Procedures
  • Well organised and client focused
