Information Services team are small in number but mighty in breadth of remit, and we are looking for an experienced AI savvy Information Services leader to head up and lead our IS team.

This is an upper-tier position, and so you must be comfortable identifying, justifying, shaping and driving forward multiple disciplines autonomously.

What will your typical day look like?

This exciting new role, arising due to a restructure and revised strategy, oversees the Information Services team in a substantial and varied global business, which continues to have an ambitious vision for both acquired and organic growth within the group. Volaris acquires multiple companies each year and never sells. As such, the breadth of responsibility continually expands.

As Director, Information Services, you would take a lead in delivering infrastructure and information services directly to corporate head office and its associated functions within, and indirectly to high growth organizations with diverse teams consisting of software developers, information custodians, and business/industry leaders. 

Reporting directly to the Volaris Group CIO and working closely with Volaris CISO, the primary objectives of the role will be:

Develop an IS (IT) infrastructure strategy that allows Volaris to scale appropriately in an autonomous manner, whilst ensuring it complies with Volaris standards and governance framework. Develop a service oriented team that delivers continual exceptional service to its customer base. (Corporate leadership, portfolio and group leadership and the broader business IT leadership teams). Oversee Volaris IS programs, including but not limited to strategic matters such as establishing IAM governance and application of controls to ensure compliance. Alongside the Volaris CISO setting standards as regards systems, auditing requirements, and building a repository of best practices to be shared between the companies. Work with the Portfolio IT & Security Directors to ensure efficient services and effective integration of newly acquired businesses each year.

This role will be split between work from home, and weekly presence in our Mississauga office. International travel will also be required from time to time to join one of our regular Summits, Academies, Leadership or other Personal Development events.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Overall responsibility for Volaris Information Services and business application service improvements.
  • Alongside the CISO, review Volaris’ current IS compliance against the Volaris Data Security Governance and Risk framework, and take an autonomous lead in remediation and compliance.
  • Develop and apply the enterprise’s security awareness training program across the Volaris corporate team.
  • Create and maintain the enterprise’s Information Services best practices processes and documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines & procedures).
  • Create and apply an effective PMO process.
  • Expand the service desk functions across the broader corporate teams, liaising with functional lead (peers) to ensure service levels are met and/or exceeded.
  • Where practicable, introduce and integrate AI/ML to improve defined services, decreasing manual efforts and improving data and process accuracy and efficiencies.
  • Oversee the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new IS solutions and of any enhancements to existing solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise’s security documents specifically.
  • Leverage Volaris’ combined purchasing power, without impacting the decentralized ethos of the business.
  • Support Portfolio IT Directors to identify solutions to IT and Data Security issues found during due diligence as applicable. 
  • Lead IS divestiture project due diligence (Estimated once every 2-3 years).
  • Undertake special projects and analysis as required by CIO/Volaris Leadership team.
  • Coordinate and oversee external consultants as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Educated to Degree level or beyond in the field of computer science
  • Minimum 10 year of IT & Data Security experience, including network and systems at an architect level.
  • Hosting environment (Azure; AWS) architecture and supplier management experience.
  • ISO/IEC 27001 implementation and auditing compliance;
  • GRC implementation and usage;
  • Strong project management skills coordinating multiple concurrent highly complex and high priority projects with considerable internal and external dependencies;
  • Extensive experience in decentralized business models
  • Extensive experience in enterprise infrastructure architecture design.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise security architecture design.
  • Experience and knowledge of security frameworks – SCF, SANS20, ISO27001, NIST, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of security/privacy/regulatory standards – GDPR, PCI, HIPPA, etc.
  • Software industry experience an asset
  • Experience in a global business, handling multiple stakeholders, time zones, and regulatory regimes an asset
