The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

- Supporting Human Resources (HR) strategies and goals for a multi-unit market of stores; delivering results through store teams and influencing district partners
- Recruiting, selecting, and talent management of non-exempt and exempt leaders in a market of stores
- Supporting store leaders and teams as well as district business leaders; coaching and developing them in growing the business and their team
- Making decisions in complex and challenging situations
- Navigating conflict and risk management
As a Human Resources Business Partner, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
Drive your business to grow sales
- In partnership with the District Senior Director (DSD), determine district priorities and align the district team to deliver financial and team goals.
- Be a business owner by scheduling time to plan, prioritize and adjust where necessary to support each
store’s unique business, guest and team experiences.
- Lead the development of a continuous learning culture by collaborating with store leaders to ensure training programs are effectively implemented and consistently executed.
- Collaborate with leaders to provide actionable insights and ensure accountability in developing high-performing business owners, minimizing risks and supporting the company’s mission to drive growth.
- In partnership with the DSD, teach store leaders how to create schedules that balance business priorities with schedule stability for their teams and validate these practices are effectively implemented and consistently followed.
- Mitigate risk through careful understanding and consistent application of company policies, practices and standards.
- Support organizational and operational change by focusing on HR priorities, practices, and impact.
Cultivate a guest-centric and engaged team
- Observes guest experience across stores to validate leaders are prioritizing guest-first behaviors, teaching and training where needed, and reinforcing effective leadership practices.
- Reinforces, recognizes, and develops leaders to consistently deliver great guest experiences aligned to district/group priorities.
- Reviews guest, financial, and team metrics to identify trends and opportunities, partner with leaders to remove barriers, and influence priorities that drive outcomes and elevate the guest experience.
- Follow team routines and processes to anticipate and identify current and future trends and needs of the team to support the total health of all stores in your district and drive profitable sales.
- Support leaders in fostering an inclusive environment where diverse voices and perspectives are valued. Encourage authenticity, respect, and ensure equitable experiences for all team members to promote a healthy store culture.
- Visit stores to evaluate team culture, staffing plans, scheduling practices, and the application of training programs, ensuring alignment with business goals. In partnership with your DSD, collaborate with store leaders to identify actionable solutions that improve performance, while recognizing and celebrating successes that drive key business outcomes.
- In partnership with your District Leaders, deliver a talent strategy that positions Target as an employer of choice and fuels growth by building a strong leadership pipeline through disciplined talent planning, attraction and retention of top talent, clear development expectations, and accountability for results.
- Create and execute a district talent staffing strategy by leveraging competition insights and partnerships with Talent Acquisition, Employment Brand and store leaders to create a culture where we are always seeking talent and strive to build diverse teams that serve the communities, we live in.
- Support talent planning and development by ensuring the use of accurate tools, timely follow up and meaningful conversations that focus on team member growth, ensuring the right expertise is in place across all levels.
- Support leaders in assessing performance, identifying and addressing bias and ensuring equitable pay decisions to foster a fair and inclusive workplace.
- Leads investigations to address and resolve concerns, collaborating with the appropriate partners and owning the process from initiation to resolution to foster a positive work environment.
- Model and use meaningful recognition to reinforce desired behaviors and drive team engagement.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance. Lead teams to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment.
- Support Target’s safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, empowering store leaders to correct and/or escalate hazards, and supporting the claims management and return-to-work programs.
- All other duties based on business need.
The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Human Resources Business Partner but there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, organizational strategy or training and development
- Proven execution skills and ability to drive change
- Experience influencing key business partners
- Operate in an ambiguous and rapidly changing work environment
- Adapt to changing priorities and tasks quickly
- Project and process management/ownership experience
- Work in high intensity situations with composure and ease
- Solution-based mindset with desire to uncover business gaps and solve problems
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Establish and maintain cross-functional working relationships
