We are looking for a full-time paralegal to join our Banking department. The role is based in Hong Kong and the successful candidate's primary role will work under the direct supervision of partner and senior associate to support the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing paralegal and administrative support to Partners, Counsel, Senior Associates and Associates in the Greater China Banking team
  • Responsible for banking and transactional work including loan documentation, stock transfers and general ad hoc matters
  • Maintaining closing files for different banking transactions
  • Conducting legal research and drafting legal advice to be provided to the client
  • Assisting with the preparation of legal documents such as claim forms and correspondence with lenders and administrators
  • Assisting with compilation of all conditions precedent documents ("CP documents")
  • Drafting relevant corporate authorisation documents as CPs
  • Reviewing CP documents drafted by counsel for any counterparts, or by local counsel for foreign entities
  • Drafting and maintaining CP checklists
  • Conducting company searches, high court searches and bankruptcy searches
  • Assisting with closing, post-closing matters and examination of all executed documents
  • Liaising between local counsel and counsel for any counterparts concerning circulation of CP documents, and confirmation of all CP documents
  • Assisting with preparing company search reports
  • Preparation of knowhow, pitch documents and legal updates
  • Devising and maintaining office systems, including data management and filing
  • Entering time to timekeeping systems as instructed Preparing billing and marketing materials
  • Liaising with clients and other colleagues and help with effective communications between fee-earners

Skills and experience:

  • The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills (to effectively prioritize multiple projects with strict deadlines in a busy, fast-paced environment) and a good eye for detail. Willingness to learn, flexibility and the ability to exercise sound judgement are all essential.
  • Understanding basic company law desired
  • Experience reading through a company's other corporate or constitutional documents desired
  • Strong research skills
  • Proficiency in Word is a must
  • The successful candidate will have a LLB / LLM / JD / PCLL degree
  • Prior experience as a paralegal at a law firm or in-house is an advantage.
  • Strong command of English and Mandarin (written and spoken) required.
