About this role
We are looking for an inspiring and compassionate leader to guide our credit underwriting and collections strategy with thoughtfulness, collaboration, and innovation. This role is integral to shaping Bluevine’s approach to underwriting and collections, requiring a leader who values teamwork, mentorship, and strategic problem-solving. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of commercial underwriting frameworks and collections and is passionate about fostering a supportive and high-performing team environment. This individual will build strong relationships across teams, championing an inclusive and people-focused approach to leadership.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Empower and lead a team dedicated to underwriting and collections strategy, ensuring alignment with company values and goals.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment while overseeing daily team operations.
- Partner cross-functionally with product and operations teams to refine underwriting and collections processes, ensuring efficiency and fairness.
- Make thoughtful and informed credit decisions, assessing risk while keeping customer needs in mind.
- Mentor and develop team members, ensuring each individual has the support, guidance, and opportunities needed to thrive.
- Encourage continuous learning and process improvement, identifying ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support goal-setting and strategy development, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader mission.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to develop insightful reports and presentations.
- Ensure compliance and integrity in all underwriting and collections processes.
- Stay informed and adaptable, maintaining expertise in regulatory requirements, internal systems, and loan products.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR:
- 12+ years of experience in commercial underwriting and collections, with a background in lines of credit, loans, and credit cards.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, with a passion for motivating, mentoring, and supporting high-performing teams.
- A strategic problem-solver who approaches challenges with creativity and empathy.
- A strong understanding of credit fundamentals, with formal credit training as a plus.
- Exceptional judgment and decision-making skills, balancing analysis with intuition.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building relationships and fostering collaboration.
- A proactive and organized mindset, with a keen ability to optimize processes and oversee projects effectively.
- A commitment to continuous improvement, embracing innovation and learning opportunities.
- The ability to effectively communicate with executives, stakeholders, and team members alike.
- High emotional intelligence, using diplomacy and tact to navigate complex situations.

New Hire Base Salary Range: $154,800 - $193,500.
This role is also eligible to earn annual performance-based incentive compensation in the form of a cash bonus.
