The Environmental, Health, Safety Security & Sustainability (EHSS&S) Manager will be responsible for continuous improvement in the environmental, health, and safety culture at the Cedar Rapids site.  This will be done by improving the levels of safety awareness, regulatory compliance, and security through the leadership of strong involvement, heighten awareness, accountability, and best practices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive plant safety, health, security and environmental program including regular inspections and training to ensure full compliance with all applicable Federal, State/Provincial and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, USEPA, GB, Ministry of Environment, COSHH, etc.) and Company Policy. Promotes an interdependent safety culture.
  • Manage compliance with all regulatory environmental permits and regulations including emission/effluent limits, monitoring, and reporting with supporting calculations as necessary.  On-time data entry submission of emissions/effluents and sustainability outputs, supporting site initiatives to achieve performance targets.
  • Audits and assists plant in achieving a safe working environment for its employees, contractors and visitors. Evaluates trends in safety work order requests. Identifies unsafe conditions and ensures prompt and effective corrective actions. Participate and provide insight to prevent (hazard assessment, job safety analysis), and corrective actions (Root Cause Investigations, case management)
  • Manages and promotes behavioral based safety programs ensuring participation by all employees and regular contractors.
  • Chairs, provides direction, and supports, an active Joint Plant Safety Committee. Leads development and implementation of plant policies and procedures consistent with local and Company requirements.
  • Manages applicable EHS regulatory agency inspections, as well as factory insurance inspections for fire and perils.
  • Manages the activities of direct reports including safety and environmental resources, where applicable
  • Directs plant security programs, procedures and personnel to ensure access control procedures are sufficient for the physical security of plant assets and of personnel on plant property.

Key Coordinated Accountabilities:

  • "Coordinates the timely reporting and investigation of all EHSS related injuries and incidents.
  • Ensure proper escalation of all safety injuries and environmental incidents to Plant Manager and Country EHSS Manager
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for EHSS improvements based on trending, global EHSS event alerts and feedback from site personnel.
  • Oversees the coordination and implementation of all key improvement plans in the areas of Process Safety, Facility Insurance and internal Audits.
  • Coordinates the ongoing completion/ review of applicable Hazard Analysis, Dust Hazard Analysis and/ or Dry Thermal Reviews
  • Gathers and reports all EHSS KPI’s, sharing with both the Plant Manager, Country EHSS Manager and/ or Regional EHSS Director
  • Coordinates the implementation of improvement/ response activities related to EHSS Cultural Surveys and feedback sessions.
  • Tracks ongoing status of all EHSS-related facility improvement actions, ensuring key milestones and targets are achieved.
  • Coordinates plant sustainability programs
  • Coordinates community engagements as assigned.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of EHSS. Understands and competent with global EHSS standards and guidelines with ability to train others and enforce compliance.
  • Experienced working in operations and/or EHSS leadership roles of at plant.
  • Ability to influence up, laterally and down in the organization to drive a strong EHSS culture.
  • Capable of interacting with external regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Strong ability to drive root cause investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.
  • BS or MS degree. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, Environmental or similar preferred. Advanced safety certifications a plus.

Pay Range:

$115,300.00-$153,766.67 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
