Job Summary:

Allina Health is engaging in multiple, significant, transformative strategic initiatives in 2024 and beyond that require a role dedicated to executing proactive public affairs strategies in support of Allina’s overall positioning in the communities we serve. This role will be project based with a primary focus on implementing our metro public affairs strategy, including our commitment to ensuring access to healthcare services, with a focus on community access to appropriate care settings, sustainability and public safety efforts. This role will closely collaborate with communications, as well as partner with other functions on the broader team like government relations, public relations and community benefit and engagement.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning.
    • Completes SWOT assessment of priority projects.
    • Conducts a strategic assessment of all Minneapolis focused activity and recommend strategies to connect, align and elevate the company’s work across a variety of efforts including ANW/Commons campus, impact investing, sustainability, safety and security and community revitalization.
    • In partnership with system-wide project team, creates public affairs plan for ANW campus project including connecting stakeholders through regular updates, arranging tours and preparing briefings.
  • Consulting.
    • Represents Public Affairs in internal and external meetings. Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships and understand complex issues and environments.
    • Serves as a strategic partner on public affairs to business project teams to support business objectives and drive and/or maintain engagement.
    • Shares professional knowledge and experience to aid executives in solving problems of diverse scope and substantial complexity.
    • May play a key role on the broader Communications team and in development of department strategy.
  • Process and support.
    • Works cross-functionally to identify and leverage opportunities to enhance Allina Health’s overall reputation.
    • Collaborates with strategic communications to build strong partnerships between teams on broader Communications team.
    • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field required
  • 7+ years experience working with local and state governments required
  • Understanding of local and state regulatory requirements. Experience working with elected officials preferred
