Job Description Summary:

PayPal is looking for an experienced engineering leader that has run and scaled large consumer technology ecosystems that enable mobile, web and backend teams to build software quickly and consistently. You will create and drive the Consumer Platform technology strategy, infrastructure, and architecture ensuring that teams and individuals work towards the strategy of having one platform across Consumer.

The Consumer Platform team builds the platforms and frameworks that teams at PayPal use to build and ship features to our customers. Our team’s DNA is to be obsessed with simplifying the experience for developers to build consistent, performant and delightful experiences for PayPal’s customers at rapid pace. 

Your Way to Impact:

PayPal is looking for an experienced technology leader across the stack, including mobile, with a track record of building and scaling platforms and frameworks in an enterprise organization. You help create and drive the roadmap for mobile technology, web technology, backend technology that powers every feature of the Consumer ecosystem. You will have accountability for the speed and simplicity by which teams can bring features to market. 

Your Day to Day:  

Drive and own multiple domains that comprise the Consumer Platform with an emphasis on Mobile technology

Manage and provide strategic direction to a group of directors and senior managers that own iOS, Android, Java and Node teams

Oversee the design, development, implementation and deployment of Consumer Platform initiatives 

Influence a large ecosystem of 40 teams that build software for Consumers

Work closely with cross-functional teams (Marketing, IT, Product, Engineering) to implement technology-driven projects and ensure success. 

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and cohesion. 

What You Bring: 

Degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field. Advanced degree preferred. 

15-20 years of experience in engineering, product and/or technology, ideally in a mobile first environment at PayPal’s scale

15-20 years’ experience in leading technical organizations. 

Experience in scaling and developing internationally dispersed teams.

Deep understanding of mobile, web, distributed systems and building frameworks across them

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technology concepts effectively. 

Successful track record building out strategies and partnerships with cross functional leaders. 

Ability to navigate altitudes (shifting between strategic and tactical). 

Ability to synthesize complex information into the essential points to inform executive decision-making. 

Outstanding communication and influencing skills. 

Results-oriented, analytical, self-motivated, and a “hands-on” leader with a proven ability to meet objectives/targets, develop and scale a team, and cultivate superb relationships with cross-functional teams. 

Travel required, as necessary, for customer activities and leadership reviews. 

Experience and appreciation for cultural nuances when working internationally. 

Executive presentation skills; including in-person, written, and verbal.
